Responsible for the enforcement of City Codes. Investigates potential code violations in the follow areas: housing code, zoning code, nuisance abatement code, graphics code, and health, sanitation and safety code.

Provides program for Brown County residents to file health complaints concerning rental housing, restaurants, and public nuisances such as septic system failures and uncontrolled trash. Filed complaints are investigated by Public Health Inspectors.
Provides service to file complaints and investigate unlawful garbage accumulation that violates health safety standards, including intrusive smell and attracting vermin.
Issues orders by the environmental health divison to attain compliance. Nuisances may include garbage and refuse complaints, housing problems, air quality issues, insect and rodent infestations, lead abatement and sewage system failures.
Accepts reports of public health nuisances including rats, insects, garbage, trash, sub-standard housing, and other problems that infringe on the health, safety or well-being of the community. Complaints are investigated to ensure proper community sanitation standards. Also tracks and inspects former meth lab locations.
Provides free safety escorts, battery jump starts, lockouts, and fuel emergencies by trained security personnel. Accepts reports of graffiti, public cleaning issues, suspicious activity, loitering, and aggressive panhandling. Ambassadors patrol on foot and bicycle, perform checks in downtown businesses, welcome visitors, and answer questions about transit and other downtown Akron amenities, share information with visitors, and provide event support. Trained in first aid, safety/police procedures, conflict management, and customer relations.

Conducts complaint investigations for junk motor vehicles on private property, unlicensed vehicles on private property, and parking vehicles in the building set back. Also conducts complaint investigation and enforcement for seasonal high grass/weeds complaints, sidewalk and right-of-way obstructions/encumbrances, signage and postings in public right-of-way, graffiti on public and private property.
The Urbana Zoning and Compliance Department ensures land use conforms to local regulations, town zoning regulations are beneficial, development and redevelopment of community. Also provides nuisance and code enforcement.

Enforces property maintenance, nuisance, and zoning codes. Accepts complaints, performs property inspections, and issues citations as needed.

Investigates health-related nuisance conditions including sewage, water systems, tires, food, solid waste, rodents, animal manure and insects. Writes correction orders with a compliance deadline to the involved parties and contacts County Prosecutor's office when corrections are not made.

Examples of nuisances include: exterior junk, trash, and debris, unruly vegetation, internal or external unsanitary conditions, unsafe pedestrian passages, rodent/mice complaints, etc.

Nuisances are inspected upon receipt of a signed complaint. Nuisances may include garbage and refuse complaints, housing problems, air quality issues, insect and rodent infestations, lead abatement and sewage system failures. Orders are issued to attain compliance.
