Provides speakers on labor issues for union and retiree meetings, and other organizations or events. Also speakers are available during the United Way campaign to assist local unions with their solicitations. In addition, offers workshops to train volunteer employees to be "UCAN (Union Community Activist Network) activists" for their respective places of employment. The training is related to issues of concern that may arise in the work place. The workshops can also be designed for a specific local union membership to attend at their own union hall.

Negotiates collective bargaining agreements with city employees, oversees employment contracts on behalf of the city, and handles day to day labor issues between the unions and the City of Akron.
