Provides training in the competencies and skills necessary to pursue a career as a dental assistant. Training includes hands-on learning experiences within Cincy Smiles' dental center.

Represents dentists throughout the state of Ohio. Provides information, services and support to dentists. Offers continuing education opportunities for the dental profession.

Enforces dentist and dental support personnel licensing and certification, reviews applications for licenses, administers examinations to demonstrate competency, issues or denies licenses, and takes disciplinary action for noncompliance with standards. Offers the following types of licenses, permits, and certificates: - Dental licensure. - Dental Hygiene licensure. - Dental licensure for graduates of unaccredited dental colleges located outside the United States. - Dental Limited Resident's licenses. - Dental and Dental Hygiene Limited Teaching licenses. - Dental Limited Continuing Education licenses. - Reinstatement from Retirement/Suspension. - Dental Assistant Radiographer's certificates. - Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary Registration. - General Anesthesia Permits. - Conscious Sedation Permits. - Coronal Polishing Certificates. - Volunteer Certificates.

Links clients with dentists or clinics where they can receive dental care for reduced fees. Dental care includes dentures, partials, root canals, wisdom teeth extraction and braces for children and teens. Does not provide preventative care, emergency care, cosmetic care (veneers, whitening), bridges, adult braces or implants. Clients may be placed on a waiting list, depending on the available number of volunteer dentists in their area.
