Provides occupational, speech, and physical therapy for veterans.

Provides opportunities for advanced education for veterans or dependents of veterans who desire to attend an institution of higher learning. Scholarships are awarded in the total amount of $1000, payable in full and only applied toward the student's tuition. A total of ten scholarships will be awarded each year. This is a one-time scholarship.

Transports veterans for free to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials dedicated to honor their service.

Offers a network of support for military families in all branches. Provides information and referrals on education, counseling, financial assistance and legal assistance. Offers information on benefits and entitlements before, during and after deployment. Also offers support and assistance to service members transitioning to and from active duty. Assistance includes information and referrals regarding Veteran Benefits, employment resources, emergency financial assistance and other deployment cycle transition issues.

Keeps copies of discharge papers (DD-214) for Veterans. After the papers have been recorded, the client will receive a certified copy, and the original back. Additional copies may be obtained in the future. Records are not available to the general public. Office can also issue a wallet-sized card with photo proving they have honorable discharge papers filed with the county.

Provides a 24 hour, confidential suicide prevention and mental health hotline. Offers immediate crisis services as well as referrals to mental health services. Will help people who are contemplating suicide as well as those who are concerned for the safety of someone they know.

Offers general mental health counseling and for specific issues: sexual trauma counseling related to military service (military sexual assault), post traumatic stress disorder due to combat service, veteran reintegration counseling, couseling for victims of spousal/partner abuse, and bereavement couseling. Counseling may be offered in individual and group settings. Does not deal with legal issues.

Provide services to low-income veterans and families in order to assist in stabilizing their housing situation.

Provides audiological (hearing) assessemnts for veterans. An audiologist will make a clinical determination on the need for hearing aids and/or other hearing assistive devices. If hearing aids are recommended, the hearing aids, repairs, and future batteries will be at no charge to the veteran as long as they maintain Veterans Affairs (VA) eligibility for care.

Provides transportation to the area VA medical facilities. Can provide transportation to other area hospitals and clinics when proper need is shown. Can transport spouses/relatives to visit Veterans who have been admitted for inpatient care at a VA hospital. Should call to discuss special needs.

Provides members and their dependents United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)-accredited Veterans Service Officers (VSOs) to assist them in understanding VA benefits and in filing claims. Provides services such as explaining benefits, filling out forms, forwarding claims for processing and representing veterans in appeals.

Once a year event sponsored by the Veterans Services Commission and Lutheran Social Services. Free services will be provided, including: Medical screenings, Legal aid, Haircuts, Clothing, Food, Lunch, Giveaways ,Entertainment and Access to local employment and social services agencies.

Provides substance abuse assessment, testing and referral for treatment.

The Veteran's Service Office provides assistance with filling out all forms and obtaining needed documents for claims. Informing veterans of their benefits and rights as veterans is also a service provided. Offers limited financial assistance to eligible veterans and their families. Provides professional behavioral health therapy to children, adults and families through horses, counseling and nature.

Provides refresher courses and tutoring in English, math, and computers to eligible individuals who are pursuing education past high school. Additional services include academic and financial aid advising, career assessment and counseling, GI Bill and VA benefits information and referrals, educational testing and assessment, assistance with college admissions, scholarship opportunities and transfer assistance, personal enrichment workshops and motivational speakers, and social opportunities.

Assists veterans with the filing of VA claims, insurance, disability claims, pension claims, education and training benefits, G.I. loans and transportation to VA facilities

Provides clinical evaluations to evaluate and determine the mental or emotional status of the client and will make referrals for treatment.

Provides a new and safe roof to honorably discharged veterans at no costs. Partners with Owens Corning to provide no-cost materials and organizes contractors who donate labor.

Provides accredited service officers who know the requirements of the Department of Veterans Affairs compensation and pension programs and will assist veterans to complete paperwork and obtain the benefits to which they are entitled. Will aid with the preparation of forms, documentation of claims, proper submission of claims to VA and other follow-up agencies, and obtaining records (military and medical). Callers will be referred to the county Job and Family Services office for assistance with unemployment forms.

Offers outpatient health care services for veterans. Operates an on-site pharmacy and will fill prescriptions written by VA physicians.

Provides an experiential habilitation or therapy program in which the horse serves as a co-facilitator or co-therapist. Equestrian therapy provides an experience with horses that fosters growth, communication skills, self-esteem, self-awareness, healing, and personal transformation. Clients learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with the horses and then discussing feelings, behaviors, and patterns. Services are provided on a 20-acre horse farm. The program is provided in partnership with Walsh University and area Rotary clubs.

Provides a home loan guaranty benefit and other housing-related programs to help veterans buy, build, repair, retain, or adapt a home for their own personal occupancy. Veterans Affairs (VA) Home Loans are provided by private lenders, such as banks and mortgage companies. VA guarantees a portion of the loan, enabling the lender to provide more favorable terms to veterans. In most cases, the mortgage is low interest and no down payment or mortgage insurance payments required. Will provide mortgage counseling to participating veterans who are having difficulties with paying their mortgage or who may already be in default. Mortgage counselors will provide information concerning the foreclosure process and what the veteran's rights and responsibilities are in that situation. Will attempt to seek solutions with the lender to help the veteran keep the home and will take complaints from veterans against their mortgage provider.
