Transportation | Ashland County Veterans Service Commission

Provides transportation for veterans to the following VA medical centers: * Wade Park VA Medical Center * Parma Community Based Outpatient Clinic * Canton Community Based Outpatient Clinic * Akron Community Based Outpatient Clinic * Mansfield Community Based Outpatient Clinic * Compensation and Pension Exams are scheduled as required On occasion, the VA will contract services to private physicians. If needed, office can provide transportation. On a case-by-case basis, will provide door-to-door service to any veteran who is too disabled to meet the van in Ashland. Each veteran in need of a companion to travel to the appointment is allowed to do so provided it is medically necessary with written notice from the VA clinic or doctor.

General Supportive Services | Dress, Right, Dress

Provides a program to help recently-discharged veterans make a successful transition from military life to civilian life. The program is peer-guided in connecting transitioning service members to community-specific resources at their desired location. While being involved in this program veterans are able to request monetary assistance with housing, utilities, food, and clothing.

Basic Needs Assistance - Veterans / Surviving Dependents / Miltary Families | Veterans Service Commission - Geauga County

Provides assistance with food, shelter (rent or mortgage), utility bills (gas and electric), principle car payments, and other needed services for veterans, active duty military, and dependent survivors. In some cases, may assist with indigent burial. Assistance is in the form of vouchers. Amount of assistance is based on demonstrated need. Also available to make community presentations about these services.

Veteran Id Program | Veterans Service Commission - Cuyahoga County

Keeps copies of DD-214 discharge papers and NGB form 22 (for Army National Guard or Air National Guard) on file for veterans and issues a wallet-sized card with photo proving they have honorable or "other than dishonorable" discharge papers filed with the county. Card can be used for veterans' services and for services that are discounted for veterans.

Homestead Exemption | Jefferson County Auditor

Offers a tax reduction program which provides Jefferson County homeowners with relief on a portion of their home value. With homestead, eligible homeowners receive an exemption on a portion of appraised value from taxation for a single family home. Eligible military Veterans receive an additional exemption. Will answer questions and assist with completing forms regarding the reduction.
