The Extension Committee will work with farmers to: *Assess needs, plan, develop, implement and evaluate a well balanced educational program in agriculture and natural resources. Education and outreach to Amish families includes information about of the importance of testing newborn children, consistent medical treatment of children, dietary requirements, etc. Research is done on metabolic and genetic disorders, and the findings are shared with medical professionals and other researchers. Special attention is paid to diseases prevalent in the Amish community. Speakers are available for any civic, church, community, or professional groups, and a newsletter is published twice a year.
