Disaster Response | Helping Appalachian Rural People (H.A.R.P.)

Provides material goods and volunteers to assist families devastated by natural disaster that bring great damage or loss of life that is beyond the community's ability to cope using its own resources. H.A.R.P collects and purchases supplies through donations for necessary items to provide relief to individuals and families that have been affected by natural disasters. Offers on-going support for these areas to assist in long term recovery.

Provides vouchers to be used at agency thrift stores to purchase clothing and small household items for people who have recently experienced a disaster such as a fire or flood. Depending on circumstances, may be able to provide one or two furniture pieces. Acts as a first responder for disasters by providing assistance such as food, blankets, counseling, and social work services at disaster locations.

Disaster Relief Services | Pickaway County Veterans Service Office

The Pickaway County Veterans Service Board will pay up to $1,000 of an insurance to veterans or widows of veterans affected by the Memorial Day 2019 tornadoes that struck Pickaway County. Veterans must prove they own or rent the property that was damaged and show an intent to repair or rebuild. Must provide DD214 form and Declaration page from the insurance company showing the deductible they have, the amount the insurance was going to cover, and the claim number. If a widow is applying for assistance, must bring spouse’s death certificate and DD214 form.
