Options are given on how to obtain information on how households and businesses can protect themselves against known disaster issues and on how to get specific questions answered by appropriate agency personnel.

Offers personal disaster preparedness information. Promotes individuals, especially those with access and functional needs, to identify a friend or family member who is trusted by the individual to check on them during a disaster or emergency incident. Offered through a partnership with Summit County Public Health, American Red Cross, County Animals Rescue and Evacuation, Direction Home Akron Canton Area Agency on Aging, and Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board.

Provides free smoke alarms installed in homes and fire safety preparedness education.

Emergency disaster mobile canteens respond to local emergencies and calls from fire, police, disaster, civil defense and other groups.

Offers disaster asistance.

Develop plans to address public health emergencies (such as a biological attack or a flu pandemic). Provides for interaction of Public Health with other public safety organizations to ensure a cooperative response to emergencies that threaten the safety of health of residents.

Provides transportation to evacuate an endangered area in the event of a natural disaster per Lake County EMA.

Coordination between environmental health division and local and state agencies in the planning and response to emergencies.
