Scrap Trailer | Richland County Solid Waste

Provides the SCRAP Trailer to elementary schools in Mansfield, Shelby and Madison to give these schools and communities the opportunity to recycle. Visits each elementary school once a month, giving students, parents and neighbors the chance to recycle newspaper, #1 and #2 plastic, aluminum and bi-metal cans, and corrugated cardboard. Money raised from the sale of recyclables is returned to the school.

Provides daily trash collection; maintenance of snow and ice on city streets; picks up up leaves from city residential streets and neighborhoods; manages emergency 24-hour street closings due to weather events, traffic accidents, and utility service calls (such as broken water main and downed electrical wires); cleans up and removes downed trees on city streets and thoroughfares regardless of reason; cleans city streets, alleys, and city property; removes dead animals from public areas and city streets; cuts grass and trims trees and other growth at the City’s flood wall and other City properties; erects and removes street barricades for parades and other special events. Is also responsible for all issues relate to road signs within the City. Replaces street signs that are damaged, remove obstacles that obstruct vision for vehicular traffic. Replaces all signs in accordance to ODOT rotation system. Installs handicap access signage including painting of street surfaces and curbs.
