Provides street maintenance services for the City of Avon including: - Dead animal in roadway. - Flooding and drainage concerns in the right-of-way, City named easements or City main blocks. - Maintenance related safety concerns such as exposed or downed wires, sink holes around a drainage grate, stop sign down or missing, debris in the roadway, and so forth. - Potholes. - Street and traffic sign maintenance. - Tree down in the road or open ditches. - Traffic light not working properly

Responsible for maintenance and repair of streets, highways, bicycle paths, bridges, pedestrian overpasses, and other public byways. This maintenance can include the following: - Street salting and snow removal. - Roadside landscape maintenance. - Roadside rest stop amenities. - Removal of traffic and pedestrian obstructions. - Other similar street-related services.

Administration – This department handles purchasing, invoices, bookkeeping, personnel administration, labor relations, public relations, payroll, contracts, budgeting, and state and federal grant coordination. Produces a map of Richland County for public use. Engineering – The Engineering staff performs highway and bridge planning, develops design and construction drawings, handles right of way acquisition, prepares bid documents, provides construction inspections, does surveying, completes grant applications, maintains facility inventories, and operates the GIS system.
