Miami County Family & Children First Council is a collaborative effort of child and family service organizations and community members striving to enhance services, resources, and the well-being of families. The Council meets bi-monthly at the Tri-County Board of Recovery & Mental Health Services 1100 Wayne St. Suite 4000 at 1:30pm unless otherwise notified.

Publicizes and encourages the use of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Volunteer Income Tax Preparation (VITA) sites that provide free tax preparation for those who are low income. Plans for and coordinates VITA sites throughout Cuyahoga County, and trains volunteers to work at these sites.

Provides mental health and addiction services, including assessing the need for services, coordinating the planning of mental health and addiction facilities, services and programs in Wood County, Ohio; allocates funds to agencies providing a wide variety of direct services, monitors and evaluates services to ensure high-quality and cost-effective programs, and initiates new programs in the absence of needed community services.

Offers a service to families with children/youth who have a lot of items on their plate, feel like they need help managing their child's care, or don't know how to get access to something for their child. We will help the family learn to advocate for themselves, run meetings with the services engaged in their child's care, and make recommendations where needed. We facilitate meetings as a team with the family and youth at the top of the list.

Provides unmatched services, resources, support and counsel to help individuals achieve their charitable giving goals. Assists other non-profits by funding initiatives and offering expertise to help them operate more efficiently. Helps build a better Dayton by identifying important issues and bringing people and organizations who can solve them.

Assesses individual and community needs for health education, helps plan, implement, and evaluate effective health education programs. Coordinates provision of health education services with other community agencies, and serves as a resource for health education

A family that is receiving services from more than one public agency or a family with multiple needs may benefit from an individual family service coordination plan. Such a plan identifies and organizes services for a family and its children. The plan names the individuals responsible for parts of the plan. Services included in the plan may be provided by public or private agencies or by informal supports such as neighbors, other family members, churches, clubs and community organizations. Families play an active role in writing the plan and share responsibility for carrying out the plan. The plan may be referred to as a Wraparound Plan.

Acts as central planning agency for Jewish community events and programs.

Provides and manages recycling drop-off sites and operates recycling programs in area schools. Offers recycling and community clean-up events and hosts special events for electronic, pharmaceutical, and hazardous household waste collection, as well as used tire collection and document shredding. Investigates reports of illegal dumping, littering, and burning. Develops environmentally safe solid waste management plans to achieve Ohio's goals for waste reduction, recycling, and solid waste management in the region. Helps communities and businesses implement cost-effective and environmentally safe solid waste management practices.

Administers funding for the provision of emergency food and shelter at multiple sites within the 8-county Diocese of Cleveland. Works with the Hunger Network, The Salvation Army, and the Cleveland Foodbank to coordinate all such emergency services in Cuyahoga County.

Plans and coordinates community services for citizens with developmental disabilities with the goal of eliminating segregated placement of individuals and returning those in institutions to community life. Monitors community programs and facilities to ensure access and quality of services.

Responsible for planning, funding, and monitoring community mental health and addiction services. Contracts with various agencies for services including prevention, treatment, and recovery services.

Provides a systematic improvement process with respect to human services planning and development.

Plans for and implements health care events which provide free health care, dental care, vision care and educational assistance to uninsured and underinsured Ohioans. Works with a network of local agencies, free clinics, hospitals, private companies, healthcare professionals and programs in Ohio to provide care.

Provides access to transportation information and resources to assist individuals and agencies with navigating local transportation services. Assistance includes: * Coordinated transportation services * Travel trainings, such as CarFit * Guidance on program eligibility * Speaking engagements for community groups * Assisting with communication between consumers and service providers * Coordinating the Richland Transportation Advisory Committee (RTAC) collaboration

Working with local officials, transportation providers and the public, the TCC is responsible for planning and programming projects to maintain and improve transportation infrastructure such as roads, bridges, traffic signal systems, bikeways, railroads, and transportation services like Springfield City Area Transit, WorkPlus, agency paratransit and ride share programs.

Network of Central Ohio Genders and Sexualities Alliances (GSAs). Supports the development and maintenance of GSAs in middle and high schools through education, training and leadership workshops. Sponsors special events that serve as networking and relationship building opportunities for members of Ohio GSAs.

Provides planning on regional issues related to highways, transit rail, bikeways, air quality, and ride sharing.

Creates integrated systems of care that are most responsive to the community by determining local needs, developing a community plan, setting priorities, directing resources, and monitoring services. Does not provide direct clinical services, but purchases those services primarily from local community agencies.

Coordinates regional planning for social, economic, and land use issues for the listed counties which includes research and recommendations.

Seeks to provide comprehensive criminal justice and juvenile justice planning. Facilitates the implementation of criminal and juvenile justice system improvements through coordination of funding initiatives. Advises elected officials and agencies on the needs, priorities, and allocation of resources in the criminal and juvenile justice systems.
