SBDC's provide confidential one-to-one business advising at no cost, management training, and educational programs. It is the only statewide system that works with entrepreneurs in all industries, at all stages of business growth. The Ohio SBDC Certified Business Advisors utilize a business coaching process to assess the business situation and work with entrepreneurs to think through problems, identify the need, find options, and pinpoint solutions. The District 6 SBDC can provide assistance with items such as: access to capital, business plan development, guidance on government regulations, buying/selling business, feasibility analysis, financial analysis, growth strategies, human resources, management, marketing, research, and strategic planning, just to name a few.

Provides assistance to individuals who are starting a small business or non-profit or wish to make a small business or non-profit more successful. Confidential services include individual counseling, mentoring, workshops, and seminars. Offers a range of consulting services in areas such as: - Customized Board Training: Customized board training presentations to address the particular and timely concerns and issues facing a nonprofit. Specific topics include the role and responsibilities of serving on a board, best practices in nonprofit governance, leadership succession planning and the roles of advisory boards. - Board Consulting: Conducts board consultations for board and staff leaders of nonprofit organizations. The board assessment process engages the full board in a discussion around the best practices in governance. BVU then prepares recommendations and facilitates a process with the board to strengthen its own performance. - Leadership Succession Consulting: Provides leadership succession and transition planning consulting for nonprofit staff and boards, including the development of emergency succession plans, long range staff succession plans and board succession plans. - Operational Consulting: Engagement of volunteer consultants, financial management, technology, marketing, legal and human resources.
