Areas covered include: bank teller training, truck driver training, training and education for those in the construction trades, small business development, customer service, careers working with aging individuals, health care careers (State Tested Nursing Assistant-STNA- training), Spanish for health care professionals, social work certification, human resources, meeting/event planning, food service/hospitality, classes to prepare for standardized tests such as the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and other college entrance exams, police/fire/emergency training, and computer classes (including certification in advanced information technology).

Hosts the Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC) at Lorain County Urban League which serves the needs of Ohio’s small, minority and disadvantaged businesses. The center provides the following services - technical assistance, professional consulting, access to capital, and assistance obtaining contract opportunities. A primary objective of the program is to identify emerging businesses and cultivate their growth and sustainability.

Encourages the growth of new businesses, provides assistance to new firms seeking to locate in the community, advocates for actions that promote tourism and benefit the regional economy and serves as a voice for the business community at local and state levels.

Makes loans to businesses in Lakewood for up to 40% of eligible cost, or a maximum of $30,000 per project, for exterior building repairs/renovations and interior building code improvements. A comprehensive improvement to the facade, in accordance with the architectural standards and sign ordinance, is mandatory.

Program has two tracks: one provides a comprehensive series of classes that explores and educates participants on all aspects of starting their own business. The second track provides direct help in evaluating and expanding businesses already in existence.

Provides 16-week (self-paced) employment training program for persons who are blind or severely visually impaired. Program involves management training, food service safety, sanitation, merchandising, customer service, business math, accounting, restaurant law, taxation and vending machine maintenance/repair, as well as on-site work experience. Program teaches life skills, job readiness (how to make a resume, interviewing techniques), dealing with anger, and how to break the cycle of abusive relationships. Also offers counseling and information to this who want to start their own business. Offered in group and one-on-one settings.

Provides Arab American business owners with education and assistance in working with businesses and authorities. Covers topics such as safety, preventing robberies, food safety, working with police and other government authorities, and maintaining good community relations. Provides mediation if needed. Informs business owners of government programs such as financial aid programs that are available to them.
