Medication Assisted Treatment Program combines our intensive treatment programming with the medication VIVITROL (naltrexone for extended-release injectable suspension). VIVITROL is the first and only once-monthly non-addictive treatment shown to prevent relapse to opioid dependence following detox and treatmetn of alcohol dependence. To be effective, VIVITROL must be used with other drug recovery programs such as counseling/treatment.

The emergency department will issue a short prescription, just enough to hold a patient over until they visit a clinic. Genesis has partnered with a number of local clinics, including Muskingum Valley Health Centers and the ClearView withdrawal management program at Perry Behavioral Health Choices, to facilitate a patient entering a recovery program. Referrals will be given to patients for one of these recovery programs, which also provide addiction support counseling, support groups and support services.

Provides a 3-part substance use disorder treatment that includes medication-assisted treatment (MAT); counseling and therapy (individual and group); social support and case management. After an initial health evaluation, client will be prescribed a safe withdrawal medication and a management plan to help ease the physical cravings. Individual counseling will help the client identify things to work on and set goals. Group counseling will allow the client to share thoughts and feelings about recovery and ask questions and get feedback from Peer Recovery Supporters (sessions are led by a licensed counselor). Social Support and Case Management will help the client with housing, transportation, applying for food stamps, job training (especially helping and advocating for those with criminal backgrounds looking for jobs), child support, and signing up for and maintaining Medicaid. Can also help with probation, legal and/or court issues.

Counseling provides individuals with an opportunity to actively pursue emotional healing and personal growth, in a safe and non-judgmental environment. Although our difficulties are unique, we all face trials of many kinds. Facing these trials, with the support of a counselor, can be an empowering experience. Recovery Support Group SMART Recovery is FREE and is held Tuesday evening. Support group help people learn self-empowering tools and members will provide support for each other in recovery. The goal of SMART Recovery is for you to achieve a healthy, positive and balanced lifestyle so you can conquer new challenges. Groups are held at the Knox County Community Health Center - Mount Vernon, Ohio location (Health Department) in the Conference Room on Tuesday evening at 6 pm. This group meets for about an hour and is open to anyone, no matter where they are at in their journey to recovery. There is no need to pre-register, and there is no fee to attend the support groups.
