Offers community-based meetings and discussions for underrepresented minority populations in Lorain County. These meetings will address these groups' unique challenges in accessing mental health services and provide valuable information and resources to overcome these barriers. Focus on psychoeducation, group discussions, and hands-on activities to increase knowledge, reduce stigma, and improve access to mental health and substance abuse services.

Provides outreach and education to the public to improve knowledge of mental health. Promotes personal mental health, early detection, and develop awareness of available treatments.

Teaches middle and high schoolers about the warning signs of mental illness for themselves and their friends. Raises awareness and changes perceptions around mental health conditions.

Provides crisis intervention for persons in mental health crisis including evaluation, prescreening, telephone consultation. Walk in, outreach and referral services available. Ongoing support, coordination of care and assessment for substance use disorder treatment. After hours calls are routed through Help Network of Northeast Ohio at 211.

Offers a 6-week educational training course for parents and other caregivers of children and adolescents living with mental illnesses.

Provides informational brochures, booklets, products and website resources regarding mental health. Also provides an online mental health screening and following the screening one will be provided with information, resources and tools to discuss the results with a mental health provider (note: a provider will most likely conduct their own screening/assessment.)

Provides a bilingual program that offers a range of services, including behavioral and mental health navigation assistance, prevention programming for youth, and community engagement initiatives.

Education course for parents, caregivers, and other family who provide care for youth (ages 22 and younger) who are experiencing mental health symptoms.

Provides educational material and information about mental illness, the mental health care system, and community resources. Referrals are made to treatment providers as appropriate. Also includes a newsletter keeping members and others up-to-date on mental health issues and advocacy.

Provides resources to enhance the “safety net” community of behavioral health services available for military personnel and their families and to complement the services available through the Department of Veterans Affairs and Vet Centers by linkages with county alcohol, drug and mental health boards and behavioral health care providers.

OFFERED TWO TIMES DURING THE CALENDAR YEAR -- SPRING AND FALL. Family to Family is free class for family members, partners and friends of individuals with Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder (Manic Depression), Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or other major mental health disorders and co-occurring brain disorders /addictive disorders. It is a series of 12 weekly classes structured to help caregivers understand and support individuals with serious mental illness while maintaining their own well-being. Helpful for professionals and law enforcement. Evidenced-based curriculum. Qualifies for CEU's . This course will help you learn to cope successfully with a major challenge in your life, and that, in turn, will help your loved one as he/she works toward recovery.

Provides middle school, high school and college-level students with prevention and intervention tools in order to deal with issues of mental illness, drug use, underage drinking, impaired driving, traffic safety, and other destructive decisions.

Education program that informs the individual of the signs, symptoms, and self advocacy.

Offers professional development opportunities. Most trainings require no prior knowledge of the topic and many of the trainings teach participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. This course covers common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges, common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges, how to interact with a person in crisis, how to connect a person with help, and expanded content on trauma, substance use and self-care.
