Education course for parents, caregivers, and other family who provide care for youth (ages 22 and younger) who are experiencing mental health symptoms.

Education program for parents and other caregivers of children and adolescents living with mental illnesses. Taught by trained parents or other caregivers of individuals who developed the symptoms of mental illness prior to the age of 13. Consists of six 3-hour classes and includes basic information necessary to take care of the child, family and caregivers; coping skills; and tools for the parent/caregiver to use after completing the program.

Provides resources to enhance the “safety net” community of behavioral health services available for military personnel and their families and to complement the services available through the Department of Veterans Affairs and Vet Centers by linkages with county alcohol, drug and mental health boards and behavioral health care providers.

A specialist works with participants to use information about their diagnoses to make a plan to deal with crises that come up, to give direction to others working with them about what they may need while in crisis, and to know and use tools to develop mental health wellness over the long term.
