USS recruits volunteers of all ages for special projects and ongoing responsibilities at our centers and with our clients. RSVP recruits those who are retired and/or senior citizens for volunteer opportunities and places them in non-profit organizations and community projects around Clark County. Individuals are placed in areas that are of interest to them and enhance their special skills.

Provides volunteer opportunities for youth and adults in Greene, Montgomery and Preble counties.

Acts as a clearing house by seeking and referring direct service volunteers to serve in various capacities for nonprofit agencies. Maintains a database that lists services needed and matches those needed services to individual wanting to volunteer. Individual volunteers are able to contact agencies needing service independently/directly.

Provides information to businesses about volunteerism and volunteer opportunities and arranges placement for employees (as groups or as individuals) in volunteer service projects. Consults with businesses in developing community involvement strategies that benefit businesses, employees and the community. Also offers board referral and training services (see "Board Training and Referral" service group), as well as volunteer consultants, who are able to provide up to 20 hours of volunteer service in areas such as human resources, marketing, technology and finance.

Coordinate one-day projects on behalf of individuals who are unable to complete the tasks on their own.

Maintains a database that list volunteer opportunities and makes referrals to those agencies needing volunteers. Volunteers serve in various capacities such as at soup kitchens, food pantries, holiday parties and meals and collecting needed items such as food and personal supplies. Most assignments are longer term, but short-term assignments available four times a year. Some opportunities are targeted to the Jewish community, such as collecting Kosher food and planting flowers and cleanup at a Jewish cemetery.

Provides opportunities for older adults to volunteer with local nonprofit organizations, public agencies, and faith-based organizations. Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) volunteers receive no stipend for their work but may be reimbursed for meals and transportation. RSVP is part of AmeriCorps Seniors.

Services include adoptions of dogs and cats; discount programs for pet neutering/spaying; lost and found registry of pets; training class for dogs; pet therapy in nursing homes; foster home program for stray animals; dog licensing; humane education program for children; and a speakers bureau.
