Foster Parent/Family Recruitment
Provides temporary placement for children and youth placed in the custody of Summit County Children Services. Foster parents and other substitute caregivers work to meet the child and family's case plan goals for reunification. Services include foster home recruitment and training, ongoing education, training, and other collaborative services to promote child safety and reduce the length of time children remain in out of home care. Kinship placement is secured whenever possible to maintain family connectedness and minimize trauma.

Foster Homes for Dependent Children

Places children who are in need of alternative living arrangements within appropriate family homes that are licensed to provide foster care.

Provides Emergency Shelter Care Services for male youth between the ages of 11 and 18 who are under the custody or supervision of Franklin County Children Services. Placement can occur within one of four shelter care sites located within Franklin County. NYAP's shelter homes provide a structured setting with 24-hour supervision. Case management services are available through Treatment Coordinators who assist with referrals and linkages to meet the individual needs of referred youth. Referrals are made through the Service Reception Department and require similar referral information as indicated for foster home placement.

The program also provides kinship caregivers with a variety of services and supports to encourage stable and successful placements with the children in their care. The purpose of the Adult Foster Home Program is to assist aged, blind & disabled adults who need some assistance or supervision but do not require skilled nursing care. Residents receive help with personal care to remain in the community in a safe and supervised environment. Adult Foster Home providers are individuals or families with the desire and ability to help others. Providers share their home and family life with either one or two residents. Being a provider involves a commitment to provide room, meals, accommodations and personal care to the residents living in the home. Adult Foster Homes must conform to prescribed guidelines on space, furnishings, nutrition, safety and cleanliness. Caregivers may have to reconfigure their homes in order to meet such guidelines designed to protect both the operator and the resident.
NYAP Northwest provides Treatment Level Foster Homes for youth ages 0-21.
