Public Pool Licensing And Inspections | Knox Public Health
Provide licensing and inspection for all public swimming pools, bathing beaches, spas and campgrounds and consultation services for pool and spa operators and their facilities. Inspections are conducted:
- To keep chlorine and PH. readings of pool water at a safe level and maintain them for the public.
- To insure pool location is safe and all required safety equipment is in place.
- Educate pool operators so pool will be operated with few problems (also lifeguards).

No walk-ins are accepted. Referrals made daily 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
No unaccompanied youth will be admitted.
NOTE: WHEN DOING A REFERRAL TO A FAMILY ROOM IF THE ADULT MALE IS NOT THE FATHER OF THE CHILDREN, HE MUST GO TO PROJECT HOPE AT 7:00 PM. REFERRALS TO FAMILY ROOM ON Saturday OR Sunday THE INDIVIDUALS ONLY ARRIVE AT 7:00 PM, GETTING THE BUS AT THE SHERIFF'S DEPT. FEMALES IN THEIR THIRD TRIMESTER CAN BE REFERRED TO THE FAMILY ROOMS AT PROJECT HOPE.
@Doors open at 7:00 pm, but guests must arrive no later than 8:00 pm. Late arrivals must be pre-approved. No new referrals will be made after 4:30 pm. If the shelter is full, clients need to call 211 at 9 am the next morning. Will take referrals for individuals who work 3rd shift, but they have to arrive by 8 pm on their first night.
@Individuals with one THERAPY ANIMAL will be accepted: paperwork must be available. NOTE: Only two questions may be asked regarding the referral: (1) is the service animal required because of a disability and (2) what work or task has the animal been trained to perform All handicapped persons are eligible for service as long as they can get in and out of shower and take care of themselves.
@Accommodates up to 50 guests (effective March 2022), MAXIMUM OF 37 ADULTS in single dorms (25 men and 12 women - spare room that can take 1 male or female. Three (3) family rooms are available and can not exceed a total of 12 people. Unmarried parents cannot stay together in a family room. NOTE: ALL FAMILY ROOM REFERRALS MUST BE CALLED IN BY 2-1-1 to PH. Diane (WEEKDAYS) and On-Call INDIVIDUAL (WEEKENDS) MUST BE NOTIFIED WHEN FAMILY ROOM REFERRED. Families with children can report to PH at 1:00 pm Monday thru Friday. Saturday and Sunday families return to shelter at 7:00 pm. Entrance is through Door #5. School transportation will be provided by the child's school of district.
@Case worker(s) or parole officer(s) for individuals coming from the parole authority (prison), psychiatric institute or nursing home must contact Project Hope Staff for prescreening during business hours. Individuals coming from the jail treatment program, NEO-CAP, DO NOT need to be prescreened.
RULES AND REGULATIONS:
-Searches are conducted at the door each evening.
-All medications, lap tops, cell phones or potential weapons will be collected and locked between 7:00 pm and 6:30 am.
-If any drug paraphernalia is found, person will not be permitted at shelter. This includes medical marijuana and marijuana vape pens.
-Provided: hot evening meal, light breakfast, shower facilities, hygiene items, vouchers for laundry, and storage totes (limited to 2 standard duffle-sized bags) for belongings while at the shelter.
-Maximum stay is generally forty five (45) days. The first night the individual will meet with social worker who will help them set up goals and work on goals.
-Individuals must be their own legal guardian (ineligible even if their legal guardian calls for referral).
-Persons under the influence of drugs or alcohol upon arrival will not be admitted.
-Convicted sexual predators/child victim predators or sexually oriented offenders who have committed an offense against a child cannot be accommodated.

In the evening, a bus departs from the front of the Lake County Sheriff's Office, 104 East Erie Street between 6:15 pm and 6:45 pm. Morning return trip arrives at Project Hope between 6:30 am and 7:00 am. Bus is equipped with a bicycle rack.
