Insure dogs kept within Mahoning County are licensed, issue court citations for violations. Be it psychological or physiological we are committed to addressing the individual needs of each rescued animal. Our work begins with developing an individual diet, treatment regiments, and a training program for each horse according to its needs. When a horse has been sufficiently rehabilitated we go about the work of finding appropriate adoptive homes that suit the horse's needs and abilities.

Loans humane traps to residents to assist in the capture and removal of all nuisance animals pertaining but not limited to skunks, raccoons, possums, groundhogs, squirrels, reptiles and other exotic animals. Program trains seven to eight dogs each cycle, which lasts seven weeks. The dogs are taught five basic commands and two certified instructor volunteers are utilized from the Richland County Dog Kennel Club. The program works in conjunction with Kind Hands 4 Paws (Zanesville), Logan County Shelter (Bellevue), and Mid Ohio Animal Welfare League for adoption of animals.

Available dogs include those who have been lost, discarded, abandoned, injured or neglected. Most are lost dogs who have not been reclaimed by their original owners. All dogs available for adoption have already been spayed or neutered, micro chipped and fully vaccinated.

MAHS does its best to place animals it cares for into new and loving forever homes. Adoption program consists of completing a short adoption application, having a manager go over the application, and then agreeing to our contract. Below are a few requirements of our adoption contract: - All animals must be spayed and/or neutered. - Adopters must be at least 18 years of age. - Renters must show permission from landlord to own pets. - Animals are to be treated humanely and all state laws followed.
