The adoption process is as follows: - Any dog may be adopted after their holding time is up. - All dogs are adopted through the Animal Shelter's Spay - Neuter Program. - If the dog has already been spayed or neutered, it may be adopted from the MCDW office for the usual fees.
Provides spay/neuter subsidy program for cats and dogs to low-medium households, monthly spay/neuter cat clinic for outside cats ($15 for males and $20 for females)for all Greene County residents. Provides free pet food to low income families (once a month). Responds to calls concerning potential livestock abuse or neglect. Provides guidance on animal care, including options available for veterinary assistance. We do not operate a shelter but assist in finding homes for animals.
Places stray and homeless domestic pets with people who are willing to provide for their care. All pets placed for adoption receive a veterinary examination, their first set of shots, are dewormed and are spayed or neutered.
Rescues dogs from the Lorain County Dog Pound before they are euthanized. Strives to find new adoptive families willing to make a lifetime commitment and be lifetime companions for each rescued dog. All of dogs have been examined by a vet, brought up to date on their vaccines, spayed or neutered, fecal and heartworm tested.

Rescues animals from abuse or abandonment situations, as well as those scheduled for euthanasia due to over-crowded shelters. All animals that leave the shelter are spayed and neutered.

Animal adoptions from the LCAS feature dog registration, vaccinations for DPP and bordetella, microchip implant and a visit to a veterinarian for booster vaccinations, a rabies shot, and spay or neutering for $125. The shelter also has adopted a new policy regarding popular dogs that a number of people want to adopt. While a stray dog is being held during the mandatory legal holding period at the shelter, interested people may place a sealed bid on the canine. The bid must be at least $1 over the regular adoption cost. Bids will remain sealed until 8am the first day the dog is available for adoption with it going to the highest bidder. Any additional funds generated from the bid will be used for medical expenses for shelter dogs.
Places rescued Golden Retrievers into appropriate homes.

Offer protective services to the citizens of Mahoning County by patrolling, seizing, and impounding dogs running at large. Insure dogs kept within Mahoning County are licensed, issue court citations for violations. Promote pet adoption from the shelter and provide information regarding responsible pet ownership, including rabies vaccination and altering.
Offers stray or unwanted animals for adoption. The Ohio SPCA & Humane Society Adoption Center is located at 3606 Elida Road in Lima, Ohio. No animals are adopted outside of Ohio. All animals adopted from the Ohio SPCA are spayed or neutered unless physical condition or medical circumstances prevent the surgery.

Provides animal services for the City of Brook Park. Includes pickup of stray animals, who are held at least 3 days, more if there is space. Animals are given necessary medical care when possible, and are eventually offered for adoption if not reclaimed. Cats not reclaimed or adopted go to the APL; dogs go to the County kennel. Provides information on poisons dangerous to animals. Rescues animals in Brook Park who are in danger, and investigates incidences of animal cruelty. Does limited humane trapping - resident requests trap, and Animal Control sets and clears it.
