The Acute Rehabilitation Unit at Springfield Regional Medical Center is an inpatient unit that provides physical and cognitive rehabilitation programs for individuals who have experienced a disabling injury or illness. Our goal is to ensure an optimum level of recovery while providing cost-effective outcomes for our patients.

Skilled Nursing facility provides Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy. Therapists see patients within the first 24 hours after admission. They allow the opportunity to give patients time to get acclimated to the new surroundings, gain rest after the transition, and permit nurses the appropriate amount of time necessary to gain all clinical information through assessments. Daily therapy varies based on physicians orders from the hospital and to what extent the patient is able to participate.

Included are planning for families with a member who requires an increased/increasing level of care; recommendations and referrals to address problem areas; counseling to deal with life change, loss, anxiety and depression; physical, occupational, or speech therapy; skilled home nursing; personal emergency response systems that alert a remote agency when someone has fallen and requires assistance.
