Meets the needs of those unprepared for pregnancy with pregnancy testing, limited ultrasound, mentoring, parenting education, baby furniture, and clothing.

Provides prenatal and postnatal services utilizing an Earn While You Learn pregnancy and parenting education program. Baby items including cribs, car seats, diapers, clothing, etc are earned as lessons are completed. Group classes on safe sleep, preventing child sexual abuse, and shaken baby syndrome are also offered. Staff are certified as child passenger safety technicians and can check for proper installation of car seats.

Professional educators provide community programs and screenings to promote health and wellness. Programs include Women in Touch, Healthier at Home, Resource Mothers, Fatherhood Support, Centering Pregnancy, Hispanic Health, Stepping Out, Prescription Assistance and community health events for men and women. Screenings include blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, osteoporosis, body fat, balance, and carbon monoxide.

Provides Certified Nurse Midwives to offer pregnancy, post-partum and miscarriage care, with the goal of improving overall health. Midwives attend births at Fairview Hospital to provide Birth and Doula support. Midwives also provide: pelvic exams, PAP tests, breast exams and scheduling of routine mammograms, family planning including birth control and emergency contraception, treatment of other concerns like yeast infections, sexually transmitted diseases, irregular periods, PMS, sexual health, menopause care and support for women dealing with depression and partner/domestic violence, a nurse advice line, 24 hour provider coverage, breastfeeding and lactation support and consultation, free pregnancy tests, and same day and evening appointments.

Provides harm reduction items that decrease the chance of opiate overdose and that may prevent illness such as HIV. Includes wound care kits (gauze, non-stick pads, antibiotic ointment, and saline), safer sex kits (condoms and lubricant), take home tests (fentanyl, pregnancy, and HIV), personal sharps container, and safer use kits for smoking (bubbler/pipe, alcohol wipes, screens, mouthpiece) as well injection (cooker, filters, alcohol pads, antibiotic ointment, saline, and bandages.

Family Planning Services include physical examinations for women, pap tests; breast exams screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, screening for high blood pressure, anemia, pregnancy testing, birth control supplies.

Provides medical-quality pregnancy tests, ultrasounds and other prenatal care services. Some services include prenatal vitamins and verification of pregnancy.

When mental health and negative stigmas are paired with poverty and hardship, the most vulnerable among us may have the most difficulty accessing vital mental health resources. CSS provides high-quality mental healthcare to low-income clients who are school age and older, because we believe income should not be a barrier to accessing mental healthcare. We employ licensed social workers and our counseling program is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. Maternal Counseling: CSS’ Maternal Counseling program allows our licensed social workers to provide clinical counseling to mothers in their homes. This is essential for helping low-income mothers—many of whom experience pregnancy- or parenting-related stressors such as postpartum depression, relationship problems, isolation, or a lack of support. We have seen through our experience with this population that new mothers often have multiple barriers to care and lack the resources they need to raise their children in safe, nurturing environments. We are one of the only agencies that visits these mothers in their homes to remove barriers to care, like finding childcare and transporting children. We are committed to giving low-income mothers the support they need to keep themselves and their children healthy. Case Management: CSS’ case manager is available to help clients tackle the multitude of barriers to economic self-sufficiency and overall family well-being. Our case manager can help clients acquire affordable housing, learn how to manage their finances, find childcare, find jobs, access benefits and community resources, and more. Our case manager acts as an advocate and support for clients who lack strong support systems. Our Lady of Guadalupe Center: Through Our Lady of Guadalupe Center, CSS works to reduce poverty by addressing its root causes within the immigrant Hispanic community concentrated on the west side of Columbus. This population is growing and experiences disproportionate poverty. In 2017, CSS expanded the Guadalupe Center facility, which allows us to serve more people. In addition to meeting their emergency needs, we now offer holistic case management and wrap-around services which will transform our clients’ capacity to become self-sufficient Pathways to Hope (Pathways): CSS’ Pathways to Hope program addresses homelessness and domestic violence in the Columbus, Ohio area. Pathways steps in to empower survivors of domestic violence with children by offering two years of case management. By supporting survivors and their children as they leave the homeless shelter, we help them rebuild their lives in safe homes, with stable incomes and a network of healthy, supportive relationships. Stay the Course™: CSS will place three case managers at Columbus State Community College starting in August 2019 to replicate Catholic Charities of Fort Worth’s trademarked Stay the Course™ program. Case managers will help low-income students persist in school and ultimately graduate, equipping them with credentials that increase earning power. Offers the following pregnancy related services: Pregnancy testing; Abortion referrals; Adoption referrals. Because of the time needed for paperwork processing, conducting the test, and giving the results, patients should arrive no later than one hour before closing for pregnancy tests. Pregnancy tests are urine tests. We do not offer blood pregnancy tests. If you choose to continue a pregnancy, we will provide you with a list of resources to help you obtain prenatal care. If you learn you are pregnant and decide to terminate the pregnancy, we will provide you with abortion services or refer you to an abortion provider.

Our goal is to meet the needs of pregnant women in distress in order that they and their unborn children will be physically and mentally strong and healthy. This help continues for two years after birth and extends to the father and significant others in relation to the pregnancy. Our objectives work together in order to help individuals regain control of their lives, so they can actively solve problems as independent, productive and well-adjusted members of our community. Ultrasound clinic will provide a FREE first trimester limited ultrasound to determine intrauterine viability and fetal heart tones.
