Children’s Hunger Alliance work with schools, youth-serving non-profits, faith-based groups and child care providers to increase participation in USDA Child Nutrition Programs. In addition, we fight hunger and poor nutrition with education, physical activity information and supplemental resources for caregivers, parents and children.

Bringing Healthy Home is a program of Hocking Athens Perry Community Action and the Southeast Ohio Foodbank that is funded by the Ohio Department of Health .The program provides nutritious food .education, and case management to pregnant and postpartum individuals and their families. Program includes: - Food Deliveries - once a month during pregnancy and once a month for 4 months following birth. The amount of food is dependent on family size. - Home Visits & Case Management - will occur at the time of food delivery. - Group Educational Activities - there will be several opportunities to attend educational events with the programs cohorts. - Communication - active communication with program staff is encouraged.

Provides various programs from breastfeeding support, WIC programs, Tobacco cessation/education and birth control counseling, and blood tests.

Offers a free nutrition education and obesity prevention program.

Provide nutrition education to limited resource families with children with the focus on basic nutrition, food budgeting, food safety and security, and preparation skills.

Provides nutrition education and breastfeeding support to pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women. A breastfeeding peer helper is available to support breastfeeding women. Breastfeeding classes and support groups are offered.

The goals for this program are to assist individuals with controlling and maintaining proper weight, A1C and Lipid levels and Hypertension with the assistance of a Primary Care Physician, testing supplies and any prescription assistance that client may need. Individual must come in and pick up application to be filled out by primary care physician to get started.

Program provides afterschool and summer programs for youth. Offers tutoring and health and fitness activities.

Provides registered dietitians who is also a certified diabetes educator.Guides individuals in making changes to their diet that may be required by health conditions or other circumstances. Also provides comprehensive nutrition education such as meal planning, diet modification, and weight control.

Provides supplemental food card that includes staple foods, fruits and vegetables; nutrition education; breastfeeding education; support and counseling; and referral services to eligible women and children. During the summer also provides a one-time $30 supplemental voucher to a limited number of participants for fruits and vegetables from selected local growers (Farmers' Market Nutrition Program), available while supplies last. Also offers speakers who discuss the program and the value of good nutrition.

The Ohio State University Extension Family and Consumer Sciences program targets the following issues: Child Care, family life, parenting, adult development and aging, nutrition, food safety, cooking classes, meal planning, money management, jobs and families, balancing work and family and health issues, educational programs and information can be provided on all of the target issues.
