Offers assistance to individuals and groups wanting to start childcare programs (center, home or after school programs), provides center accreditation, Child Development Associate, and Step Up to Quality support and training.

Educates parents and care givers on quality indicators of child care, makes referrals to child care providers, helps link families to community resources, provides general and Step Up to Quality approved trainings to early care and education professionals, offers CDA credential training, and supports child care programs through technical assistance and resources.

Include topics such as choosing age-appropriate activities, basic child care, like bottle feeding, child behavior, leadership, professionalism, safety, starting a babysitting business, and more. Please note: classes are not intended for those seeking certification for state-licensed child care providers and does not meet all state requirements for such certification.

Provides a program that teaches responsible and safe babysitting techniques to grandparents. Participants will learn how to provide the best and safest care for their grandchildren. They will also learn the latest information on how to safely care for infants and children and how to manage the behavior of children of all ages, in addition to life-saving skills such as choking rescue, first aid, and injury management. Grandparents will learning tips on creating a good relationship from the start as well as learning to say no to every request to babysit. This will enhance their relationship with their children and create lasting memories with their grandchildren.

Provides services to families with birth to age 6 children with mental health/behavioral difficulties. Services include diagnosing problems, outpatient mental health services. Also provides consultation with schools, works with community day care centers and other service providers regarding young children with behavior problems and mental health concerns. Will also conduct assessment of youth in childcare providers' programs.

YWCA offers babysitting classes for grades six through eight. Classes focus on safety and life skills. Students participate in small group interactive learning, role-play and practice rescue skills with manikins. Students must attend all three classes to be a registered as a Safe Sitter. Membership NOT required.

Offers personal enrichment and recreational programs such as first aid, home repair instruction, photography, real estate, scrapbooking, dance, computer instruction and financial management classes. Provides babysitting instruction, days camps and art and crafts for youth.

Offers a number of different trainings for child care providers. Maintains a calendar of community training workshops, seminars, and programs pertaining to child care issues. Provides information on topics of interest to child care providers and those who wish to become child care providers. Also offers day care home providers support, materials, consultation, and networking opportunities.

This course prepares students to be better babysitters. Topics include how to provide care for infants and children, how to stay safe, what to do in an emergency, how to choose age-appropriate activities, and how to recognize and handle a variety of behaviors. Provides financial assistance for child care to eligible residents of Ottawa County; also provides information and training to become a certified Type B Childcare provider in Ottawa County.

Licenses day dare facilities and homes for children. Provides information about the licensing process and provides access to online training. The agency inspects, licenses, and sets the standards for child care centers, child day camps, and private homes caring for 7 or more children.
