Provides a wide range of services for families, including referrals to child care and early education programs that meet their family needs for child care. Provides assistance to parents and families on a variety of parenting topics, including discipline, literacy and special needs. Provides childcare provider training, a lending library with books and supplies for childcare providers, fingerprinting services, and the Step Up To Quality program for type A childcare providers.

Educates parents and care givers on quality indicators of child care, makes referrals to child care providers, helps link families to community resources, provides general and Step Up to Quality approved trainings to early care and education professionals, offers CDA credential training, and supports child care programs through technical assistance and resources.

We offer over 50 trainings annually, including Health & Safety trainings twice annually and Child Development throughout the year. All are Ohio Approved trainings.

Provides child care subsidies for families who are eligible. This department also certifies providers who wish to provide care for children as a vocation.

Provides youth services classes with: Babysitter's Training, Disaster Preparedness such as the Pillowcase Project and Prepare with Pedro.

The American Red Cross Greater Columbus Ohio Chapter offers instructional courses in babysitter training.

Provides safety education courses. Courses may include the following: First aid and CPR/AED, babysitter training, advanced Child Care training. Many courses offer a partial online training option.

4C for Children provides Ohio Approved in-person or virtual training to help early childhood professionals advance their skills, programs and careers. Child care providers learn from highly qualified instructors while interacting with other early childhood professionals either virtually or in-person at 4C training locations. Training may include single sessions or series that focus on important child development, early childhood education best practices and basic health and safety training.

The American Red Cross offers a variety of health and safety training courses offered, including: First Aid, CPR, Anti-Choke, Automatic External Defibrillation, Water Safety, Life Guarding, Babysitting Certification programs and more. YWCA offers babysitting classes for grades six through eight. Classes focus on safety and life skills. Students participate in small group interactive learning, role-play and practice rescue skills with manikins. Students must attend all three classes to be a registered as a Safe Sitter. Membership NOT required.

Course provides information on how to care for infants and children, how handle emergency situations, and how to handle a variety of behaviors. Classes are offered online.

Provides professional development workshops for home and center-based childcare providers. Offers assistance to individuals and groups wanting to start childcare programs (center, home or after school programs), provides center accreditation, Child Development Associate, and Step Up to Quality support and training.

Provides babysitting and child care instruction. Include topics such as choosing age-appropriate activities, basic child care, like bottle feeding, child behavior, leadership, professionalism, safety, starting a babysitting business, and more. Please note: classes are not intended for those seeking certification for state-licensed child care providers and does not meet all state requirements for such certification.

Coaching and child care provider training services through our early child care and education programs for child care professionals - teachers, administrators and staff.

Helping to pay for child care is one of the many supportive services provided by MCDJFS. If a parent or caretaker is working, attending school or taking part in vocational training, the family may qualify for a child care subsidy.

Provides child care resources and referrals. Services also include training programs, fingerprinting, and background checks.

Provides a wide variety of personal enrichment activities. Activities for children include acting, public speaking, baby-sitting, dining etiquette, dance/movement, science, arts and crafts, and computers. Classes for adults include acting, arts and crafts, computers, dancing, cooking, yoga, and body sculpting.

Provides calendar of community training workshops, seminars, and programs pertaining to child care and early education. Also offers family childcare home providers support, materials, consultation, and networking opportunities. Provides training to professionals regarding children with special needs who are in their care.

Provides a program that teaches responsible and safe babysitting techniques to grandparents. Participants will learn how to provide the best and safest care for their grandchildren. They will also learn the latest information on how to safely care for infants and children and how to manage the behavior of children of all ages, in addition to life-saving skills such as choking rescue, first aid, and injury management. Grandparents will learning tips on creating a good relationship from the start as well as learning to say no to every request to babysit. This will enhance their relationship with their children and create lasting memories with their grandchildren.

Action for Children provides parenting education classes, special training events, networking opportunities, study groups and more. Nearly all trainings offered through Action for Children are Ohio Approved (SUTQ).

Provides a class where teens can learn skills of infant care, first aid, handling emergencies, accident prevention and other topics dealing with the care of babies and small children.

Responsible for control and extinguishing of fires in an urban setting; provide emergency medical services to the community the inspection of buildings and property to eliminate potential fire hazards; provide community wide fire safety, first aid, CPR, and life safety education; and training of firefighters and emergency medical technicians to maintain high quality of service in a timely manner.
