Facilitates commerce by assisting shippers of plant based commodities with various federal and state quarantines that restrict the movement of articles capable of harboring targeted pests. Provides inspections and phytosanitary certificates for shipments of grain, seed, logs, lumber, greenhouse plants, and other plant based commodities destined for other states or countries. Offers information on various plant pests and provides pest control by performing exotic invasive pest surveys to detect any new infestations through our Asian Long-horned Beetle, Emerald Ash Borer, Gypsy Moth, CAPS, and Apiary programs.

Consultation and referrals by staff to residents or organizations affected by bed bugs and provide information such as fact sheets and website links. No funding is available to help with infestation.

Provides information and answers questions about lice (Pediculosis) infestation, diseases passed by mosquitos, rabies, and ticks. Information includes types of animals/insects, symptoms, how they are transmitted and treatment. (Issues with bedbugs should be referred to individual county health departments.

Provides information about bed bugs, including: how to get rid of them, how to avoid getting them, and other general information.

Provides information and literature related to bed bugs and how to remove them. Does not provide extermination, but educates the public about the importance of prepping the home before an exterminator in order for treatment to be effective.

Environmental Health provides information online that will help people control and/or eradicate infestations of bedbugs that make a nuisance of themselves when they invade homes. Included are facts about their habits, infestation prevention measures and control methods.

Provides information, help with identifying and advice on beg bugs to help individuals prevent, control and/or eradicate infestations.

Provides a hotline and website that offer resources on pest control measures. Trained pesticide specialists are available to discuss the risks of pesticide and non-emergency pest- and pesticide-related health information. It is not a poison control center nor does it have regulatory authority.

Provides inspections, permits and licenses of food services, wells, septic systems, manufactured home parks and public swimming pools. Provides inspections of properties when issues affect the public’s health, such as water, sewage, rodents, garbage and other unsanitary conditions. Provides information about pest control, mold removal and lead prevention. Also conducts education sessions on the programs it administers. Does not provide on-site inspections for household mold.

Provides information on conditions that may be a public health hazard. Conditions may include improper storage of garbage, accumulation of animal waste, rodents or small areas of mold and moisture. May refer those who contact the agency to local authorities to investigate situations on a case-by-case basis.

Provides education about bed bug infestations.

Provides gardening information including diagnosis of plant and insect problems by phone or online. Offers gardening workshops for beginner and advanced gardeners, and a speaker's bureau for community groups and organizations.

Includes licensing and inspecting restaurants to help protect the community from food borne illnesses; inspecting schools to help create healthy learning environments;inspecting retail food operations, licensing and inspecting public pools and spas, manufactured home parks, campgrounds, and tattoo establishments; septic system consultations, permits and inspections; water consultations and testing; permits and inspections for plumbing systems and private wells;lead poisoning prevention, rabies quarantine; and solid waste inspection of disposal facilities.

Provides information on bed bug infestation. Information includes how they may have gotten in the home, where to look for them, how to know if a home has them and steps to take to get rid of them. Will come to a site to identify the bugs and offer advice on control.

Provides inspection or education on methods of clean-up regarding a variety of health hazards in the home environment. Topics include the hazards of: high grass over 8", trash & debris, stagnant water, insect infestation, lead, illegal dumping reporting in public and privately owned lots, rodent control, (inspector places poison in animal burrows outside the house), mold (especially regarding black mold that grows on water-soaked cardboard and unpainted wood), as well as inspections and licensing of public establishments in order to enforce existing health codes. Inspects tenants' homes for bedbugs and cites landlords but will not inspect homeowners. NOTE: Homeowners who request assistance with rodent control or home sanitation may be cited for corrective action if the health inspector decides the situation warrants.
