Surveillance is the cornerstone of the program. Other duties include: education, reduce and eliminate mosquito breeding sites, respond to service requests for mosquito problems, traps and monitors mosquito population to determine when mosquito spraying is needed.

Provides assistance to needy families in the form of beds, kitchen table and chairs, cribs and crib mattresses, car seats, and extermination services (bed bugs, termites, rodents, or other pest control). PRC total amount is $3,000.00.

Pest control for all bugs, insects, mammals and rodents. Also offers WDI inspections (termite inspection) and K-9 Bed Bug inspections.

Offers free honey bee swarm removal and relocation by club members. Also offers removal of live honey bees from structures. NOTE: If insects are coming out of a hole in the ground or out of a paper or mud nest, they are not honeybees and a beekeeper cannot provide assistance.

Provides inspection and code enforcement of: plumbing, water, and sewer service; sewage; schools; water wells; camps; recreational areas; swimming pools; groceries; food services; trailer parks; and solid waste disposal. Also provides planning for land use with soil surveys and layouts; rabies control; and nuisance abatement.

Tracks and investigates any animal bite, from domesticated or wild animals, including 10 day isolation of the animal (if animal is alive), testing of dead animals suspected of carrying rabies, and verification of the animal's vaccination against rabies if applicable. Provides disease prevention practices include the elimination of havens for rodents, baiting for rodents, reduction of standing water for mosquitoes, and treatment for larval and adult mosquitoes.

Provide residential code enforcement within the City of Dayton, including the Nuisance Abatement Program. Also provide information about violation disclosure process, which is online at go.cityofdayton.org/disclosure

Provides pest control services and investigates established infestations. Offers advice and guidance regarding steps individual property owners can take to eliminate infestations.

Provides inspection or education on methods of clean-up regarding a variety of health hazards in the home environment. Topics include the hazards of: high grass over 8", trash & debris, stagnant water, insect infestation, lead, illegal dumping reporting in public and privately owned lots, rodent control, (inspector places poison in animal burrows outside the house), mold (especially regarding black mold that grows on water-soaked cardboard and unpainted wood), as well as inspections and licensing of public establishments in order to enforce existing health codes. Inspects tenants' homes for bedbugs and cites landlords but will not inspect homeowners. NOTE: Homeowners who request assistance with rodent control or home sanitation may be cited for corrective action if the health inspector decides the situation warrants.

Assists older adults and disabled adults with bed bug extermination.

Community Environmental Health promotes and protects the health and safety of residents through preventative health programs: investigates animal bites; inspects jails; inspects RV Parks & Campgrounds; provides mosquito control and education; enforces housing maintenance and occupancy codes; licenses and inspects public swimming pools; licenses and inspects tattoo and body piercing establishments; provides education on diseases and health issues related to ticks. (Residents living in the Cities of Columbus and Worthington are served by Columbus Public Health.)

Assistance available includes: - Auto Insurance - Liability up to four (4) months coverage. - Car Repair - Not regular maintenance. - Driver's Education Classes. - Employment Related Expenses. - GED Incentive. - Emergency Hot Water Tank Repairs or Replacement. - Emergency Furnace Repairs or Replacement. - Emergency HVAC Repairs. - School Fees. - Pest Removal Services. - Property Taxes - ½ year delinquent or longer.
