Disease reporting, questions and concerns regarding infectious diseases and other public health emergencies. County residents play a major role in identifying and reporting communicable diseases at the local level. It is imperative that members of local communities are empowered with the knowledge and resources needed for fast and effective transfer of information. With a wealth of informational resources at our disposal, we will do our best to meet the educational needs of any county resident, medical professional or otherwise.

Provides services that are directed toward IV drug users, crack users, and their sexual partners. Services provided through this program include: HIV and AIDS education, counseling, and testing; Hepatitis B testing; syphilis screenings; and blood pressure screenings. Every patient will also receive case management services.

Works to prevent disease, prolong life and promote good health. Provides public health nursing, health promotion programs, disease control, birth and death information, and environmental health services. Addresses current and changing public health concerns.

Monitors and investigates the occurrence of specific diseases on a community-wide basis. By working closely with hospitals and other local public health partners, the program is able to promptly respond to the threats posed by infectious diseases.

Disease reporting, questions and concerns regarding infectious diseases and other public health emergencies. Protects the residents of the city of Galion by enforcing environmental health regulations relating to clean air and water, safe food, proper waste disposal, insect infestation and safety.

Prevents human cases of rabies by investigating all reported animal bites and by vaccinating dogs against rabies. Program includes: * Investigation of all animal bites * Laboratory examination * Recommending rabies post-exposure vaccine * Any animal that bites i required to be quarantined following the bite incident * Animals that have bitten are not confiscated or euthanized

All animal bites (or exposures which draw blood) must be reported to the health department and investigation is required. The owner of the animal is notified of quarantine requirements. A veterinarian must examine the animal after the quarantine to verify the animal's good health and update its rabies vaccination. Provides a walk-in immunization clinic for adult and children. Also provides: Blood pressure screenings, communicable disease control, health education, nutrition services, and prevention services.

Provides communicable disease control monitoring and tracking for Clermont County. Reports to the Ohio Department of Health.

Includes monitoring and control activities for mosquitoes to prevent encephalitis, West Nile Virus, Lyme Disease and other vector-borne diseases.

Investigates and follows up on all reports of infectious diseases in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 3701.3.03. Provides COVID-19 at home test kits. NOT a PCR test. Results will take 30 minutes to process.

Licenses and inspects food service operations, vending machine operations, retail food establishments, and temporary food and mobile food operations as described above. Responds to consumer complaints regarding restaurant. Reports and investigates food-borne illnesses.

Conducts surveillance of communicable diseases reported in Geauga County in compliance with the Ohio Department of Health Infectious Disease reporting requirements and CDC recommendations. Contact investigation and follow-up is performed by a public health nurse following strict confidentiality guidelines.

Protects the residents of Pickaway County by enforcing environmental health regulations relating to clean air and water, safe food, proper waste disposal, vector control and safety.

Investigates all incidents of animal bites in the county both wild and domestic. Issues 10-day quarantine orders to the owners of dogs, cats, and ferrets involved in bites to determine if the animal was exposed to rabies prior to the biting incident with a follow-up veterinarian check and rabies vaccination, if applicable. Submits animal specimens to the Ohio Department of Health Laboratory in Columbus for rabies testing.

Protects the public health through comprehensive efforts to track the incidence and distribution of disease in the population and prevent, control and eradicate vaccine-preventable diseases, vector and food-borne illnesses, diseases that are transmitted person-to-person and other diseases that are spread by direct or indirect contact.

Athens City-County Health Department strives to protect its residents from public health emergencies, by developing and maintaining emergency response plans that addresses foodborne outbreaks, bioterrorism, infectious disease outbreaks, etc. Health Department staff participate in annual exercises, that focus on public health emergencies, so that we can respond effectively and efficiently, at any given notice.
