Disease reporting, questions and concerns regarding infectious diseases and other public health emergencies. County residents play a major role in identifying and reporting communicable diseases at the local level. It is imperative that members of local communities are empowered with the knowledge and resources needed for fast and effective transfer of information. With a wealth of informational resources at our disposal, we will do our best to meet the educational needs of any county resident, medical professional or otherwise.

Health Outreach Office | Public Health-Dayton & Montgomery County

Provides services that are directed toward IV drug users, crack users, and their sexual partners. Services provided through this program include: HIV and AIDS education, counseling, and testing; Hepatitis B testing; syphilis screenings; and blood pressure screenings. Every patient will also receive case management services.

All animal bites (or exposures which draw blood) must be reported to the health department and investigation is required. The owner of the animal is notified of quarantine requirements. A veterinarian must examine the animal after the quarantine to verify the animal's good health and update its rabies vaccination. Rabies Test | Medina County Health Department

Investigates all incidents of animal bites in the county both wild and domestic. Issues 10-day quarantine orders to the owners of dogs, cats, and ferrets involved in bites to determine if the animal was exposed to rabies prior to the biting incident with a follow-up veterinarian check and rabies vaccination, if applicable. Submits animal specimens to the Ohio Department of Health Laboratory in Columbus for rabies testing.
