Provides water and wastewater services for the City of Mount Vernon. Special services available:
- Pool credits are offered if you have a swimming pool in your yard, we will allow a one time per year credit on the wastewater portion of your bill for all usage over your average. Pool water must not be drained into the sanitary sewer to receive this credit. We will also be surveying consumers with pools to make sure they have installed proper backflow devices. We recommend that hose bibb vacuum breakers be placed on all threaded spigots. (These may be purchased at your local hardware store). Installment of these devices will now be a requirement for you to receive your pool credit. Please stop by our office and complete a pool credit form.
- Freeze credits are available in the wintertime, to keep lines from freezing back into the meters we allow freeze credits. If you wish to allow your water to run in a small thin stream, we will credit your water/wastewater billings back to your average. Maximum amount of credit allowed for freezing is for 900 cubic foot per unit. Please notify us in writing if you wish to exercise this option.

Additionally, the Division is responsible for maintaining the collection system, which consists of approximately 238 miles of sanitary and combined sewers, 17 lift stations and over 5000 manhole structures. The Division is also responsible for monitoring discharges into the system from industrial and commercial users for compliance with federal regulations as well as local ordinances.

Funds are available to assist homeowners with the cost of repairing or replacing their failing household sewage treatment system (HSTS). The funds will be distributed on a first come, first served basis to eligible homeowners residing within Licking County with a HSTS in need of being repaired or replaced. Homeowners’ eligibility for this project will be based on their household income level. Homeowners will be required to submit their latest income tax return to LCHD to determine their eligibility level.

Accepts complaints about illegal dumping into the sewer system and odors coming from the sewers. Responsible for the development and implementation of a regional storm and flood control plan. In case of basement flooding, will send an inspector to the site to determine if blockage or break is in the main sewer line (for example, the storm sewer in the street) or on private property (from the curb to the house). Can only address issues with Sewer District owned sewer line. The sewer line from the curb to the house is the homeowners' responsibility.
