Mercer County Bar Association offers referral services to lawyers that are in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court.

Offers contact information on immigration lawyers throughout the country. Provides information on lawyers who have been AILA member for at least two (2) years, carry professional liability insurance worth a minimum of $100,000 worth of coverage, have completed at least nine (9) hours of Continuing Legal Education classes within the last year, and are licensed and in good standing with a State Bar Association.

Provides referrals to lawyers in the field of practice in which service is needed.

Collects listings of physicians, lawyers, counselors, treatment/recovery programs, health care providers, social services, and other services agencies that are familiar with issues regarding the LGBT lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender community. Listings include businesses and social opportunities. Makes listings available to those who contact the agency.

Provides referrals to qualified attorneys. An initial, brief consultation is provided by attorneys who receive referrals from this agency (after that standard attorney fees apply).

Maintains a directory of attorneys in the county who want to assist individuals without an attorney; refers clients to those who are experienced in the area(s) of law appropriate to the client's case.

Provides justice system advocacy, support and information for victims and witnesses of crime. Advocates facilitate interactions between the client and law enforcement officers and other court personnel, accompany victims to court, obtaining a civil protection order, and assist in the completion of victim impact statements and requests for victim notification. Provides application forms and information about filing a claim for victim compensation. Offers counseling, crisis intervention, and referrals. Will provide speakers who can give presentations about agency services and crime victim topics.

Maintains a voluntary listing of attorneys who are members of the Geauga County Bar Association. It is not a certified referral service. Clients may receive a free 1/2 hour initial consultation with an attorney who has no grievances pending against them and who has handled at least one case in the past three years in the area of practice the client seeks.

Provides volunteer attorneys that offer legal assistance to personnel of the armed forces who are enlisted in the reserves or National Guard and are currently activated, or are on active duty. Assists enlisted personnel and their families in exercising their rights under the Soldiers' and Sailors Civil Relief Act. Also, will provide legal assistance for wills, powers of attorney, living wills, and durable power of attorney for health care. Will not assist with legal matters such as divorce and child custody (does not represent in court).

Also conducts educational workshops for landlords, rental agents, real estate agents, and others as to what constitutes discrimination in housing. And how they can best comply with the law.

Participating attorneys must meet experience criteria in their areas of practice and carry liability insurance in order to be a member of the referral service. In some cases, the following appointments can be arranged: house calls, knowledge of foreign languages, evening appointments and referrals to attorneys licensed in other states.

The Fairfield County Bar Association is a voluntary organization of over 140 attorneys of Fairfield County and central Ohio.

Provides free legal assistance via phone regarding problems that affect older adults living in Ohio. Subject areas include civil law issues such as consumer problems, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, subsidized housing, wills and estates. If the legal problem cannot be solved over the phone, the client may be referred to a private attorney who can provide the service. Also offers pamphlets on a variety of legal topics.
