Addresses general questions about situations that come under the jurisdiction of the Ohio Landlord Tenant Law or HUD regulation. Provides support to Ohio residents and organizations seeking guidance on a variety of housing issues such as landlord-tenant law, the Fair Housing Act, tenant organization, and affordable housing preservation. Note: Does not provide legal representation, housing referrals, or financial aid.

Family Stability Initiative | Chn Housing Partners

Assists families who are behind in their rent or mortgage to remain in their homes and regain financial stability, as well as security deposit assistance for families in transition. Services vary based on the needs of the individual family, but can include mediation and rent/mortgage payment negotiation with landlord/lender, help accessing utility payment assistance programs, and financial counseling. Up to $1500 in assistance may be available. Support for school-aged children in the household may include access to low-cost computers (funding for computers is currently out). Will also assist with property tax payment to remain in their homes and regain financial stability.

Provides information and guidance about housing rights and tenant-landlord law for tenants experiencing difficulty maintaining their rental housing. Also offers advice regarding particular tenant-landlord disputes and advocates on tenants' behalves with their landlords when appropriate. Housing Help | Community Legal Aid Services

Assists residents with housing issues through the following: * Homeownership Project - Assists homeowners facing foreclosure with improving their financial situation and asserting rights in foreclosure proceedings. * Neighborhood Law Project - Promotes economic development in historically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Provides legal advocacy and supports grassroots efforts focused on social justice and racial equity. * Tenant Assistance Project - Assists low-income renters with maintaining their home, improving living conditions, and asserting rights in eviction proceedings. Also provides advocacy around right-to-counsel in eviction cases and sealing of past eviction cases.

Supportive Services For Veteran Families (SSVF) | Axess Family Services

Provides first month's rent and security deposit to help veterans establish permanent housing. Will also help with advocacy and rent to help veterans stay in their current housing. If needed, clients are provided with eviction prevention help, benefits assistance, landlord/tenant assistance, and case management to ensure that they are connected to available community resources and VA benefits. Program may provide incentives to landlords to secure housing for Veterans with rental application barriers. Clients do not have to stay in the county they reside in (they may move from county to county).

Provides advocacy and support to tenants throughout Ohio. Offers information on rental rights, fair housing, housing advocacy and tenant organizing. Also provides tenants legal advice concerning landlord/tenant issues. Primary focus is on tenants living in federally assisted housing (Project-based Section 8, Low Income Housing Tax Credits and Rural Housing Service 515 properties), but staff will try to be of service to any Ohioan with questions about their housing rights.

Conflict Intervention Services: | Dayton Mediation Center

Conflict intervention services including mediation, conflict coaching, conflict management training, facilitator for small and large group meetings, workplace/organization team development services. The Mediation Response Unit (MRU) can provide an immediate response for non-violent 911 conflict-based calls. These services are provided as an alternative if police intervention is not desired, to avoid costly litigation. Community members may call MRU directly at: 937.333.2333. Conflict matters involving use of violence or active protection orders should utilize 911.
