Provides brief legal advice to individuals with questions about civil legal problems (not criminal) related to housing, utilities, debts, immigration questions, income taxes, work and unemployment, education, subsidized health care benefits, domestic violence, divorce, custody, visitation, and other civil legal matters.
Veterans who need representation in a lawsuit based on credit card debt may be eligible for free legal assistance through this program.
Legal services provided for clients age 60 and older, regardless of income and assets, in matters such as credit card debt, debt collection, foreclosures, landlord/tenant, simple wills, power of attorney. Civil cases only by appointment or walk-ins for Knox County residents at Station Break Senior Center.
Offers a legal clinic that provides information about various legal concerns including immigration issues (Detentions from I.C.E cancelation of deportation, extension, visas), family rights (divorce, dissolutions custody and child support), personal injury (auto accident, catastrophic injuries), traffic violations (OVI/DUI, no license any all other traffic violation), criminal charges (felony and M charges).
Assists residents with disbility/SSI terminations, Medicaid, unemployment, cash assistance, and food stamp denials.

Provides a hotline number to speak with an attorney and get advice on evictions; virtual clinics provided on Tuesdays at 4pm. can call in or join from computer to get general information on the eviction process or speak with an attorney; online toolkit walks renters through whatever stage of the eviction process they are in, helps them prepare for court, and provides template documents.

Areas that Legal Aid can assist with include: protection and safety, housing, government benefits, money/debt, immigration, family, and life planning documents.
Evaluates cases related to consumer issues such as credit card collection attempts or lawsuits, or court debt from criminal cases; student loans, payday loans, auto title loans; home repair contracts or other contracts; recent repossessions, threats of repossession; and lawsuits following car repossession; medical or nursing home collection.
Offers brief legal advice clinics with volunteer attorneys. Does not provide formal legal representation, attorneys. Also offers workshops where an attorney presents on legal topics such as family law, landlord-tenant law, debt management, education law, and more.
Provides a Court Appointed Public Attorney to defendants who are found to be indigent.
Provides a free legal hotline for legal information advice, and referral for residents of Ohio age 60 and over, regardless of income or resources.

Evaluates cases related to consumer issues such as credit card collection attempts or lawsuits, or court debt from criminal cases; student loans, payday loans, auto title loans; home repair contracts or other contracts; recent repossessions, threats of repossession; and lawsuits following car repossession; medical or nursing home collection.
Provides limited, low cost legal assistance. Can provide defense in limited criminal matters including vacating pending traffic violations, managing misdemeanors, or dealing with probation or low-level felony warrants. Provides help with sealing of criminal records/expungement (and in some cases may be able to lessen or remove some penalties). Provides help with lawsuits arising from credit disputes, civil actions, and home foreclosures. Assists with the preparation of simple wills and assistance with some probate matters. Does not assist in criminal cases where a public defender or private lawyer will handle the case (most cases in common pleas court or municipal courts), unless its related to a Motion to seal or "expunge" or a motion to vacate capias (vacate an outstanding arrest warrant). Does not represent individuals in the following types of cases: civil litigation, workers comp, bankruptcy, eviction, divorce/dissolution/child support, and/or administrative appeals.

Provides a free legal clinic for LGBTQ people. Some of the legal area that are included are consumer law (such as fraud and identity theft), family law, civil rights, and administrative assistance (such as SSI or disability).
Provides legal assistance in civil matters, such as government benefits problem, social security, domestic relations, child support, and landlord/tenant problems, to help eligible low-income individuals and groups achieve selfreliance, and equal justice and economic opportunity. Also provides legal assistance to parents regarding education issues.
Provides low to no cost legal assistance with immigration status and situations.
Provides civil legal services to low income people in Athens, Morgan, and Washington Counties in various areas including domestic, foreclosure, housing, consumer, public benefits and IRS tax disputes. Clients receive assistance in person by appointments and by telephone.
Represents tenants in court in eviction cases and/or mediates tenant/landlord disputes.

The clinic CANNOT handle family law cases, health care personal injury or malpractice cases, bankruptcy or felonies, does not help with employment law concerns, and does not assist with expunging of criminal records.
