Evaluates cases for possible assistance with civil protection order and where one of the following is true: - The applicant or minor child has experienced an incident of abuse within the last 60 days; - The abuser has threatened to kill or physically harm applicant or commit suicide within the last 60 days coupled with severe physical violence in the past year; - The abuser is subject to charges or protection order for offense of violence within the past 60 days or a CPO has been issued against abuser; - The abuser is incarcerated for offense of violence and has made new threats of abuse to applicant and incarceration will end in less than 12 months; - Juvenile court custody matter where unmarried biological mother is seeking custody or incident of abuse towards minor child was alleged but not substantiated, or applicant is concerned about complying with court-ordered custody or visitation due to COVID-19.

Services include: 24/7 crisis hotline, emergency shelter, crisis intervention, safety planning, intense case management, legal advocacy and support to file charges and obtain legal protections, outreach, support and educational groups, goal planning, individual advocacy, food, clothing and personal care items, transportation support and follow-up case management and referrals.

Advocates can help victims understand the judicial process and attend legal and court appointments with the victim as requested. While the victims’ rights advocates are not attorneys, they can provide referrals to affordable or even free legal services.
