Oversees issues of housing discrimination. This includes landlord and tenant rights and responsibiliites and required repair and maintenance to rental properties.

Provides advocacy, assistance with legal and immigration information, and media education on issues of importance to the Asian-Pacific community.

Investigates charges of discrimination in employment, public accommodations, housing, credit and higher education on the bases of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, ancestry, military status, or familial status. Must file complaints within six months (or one year for housing complaints) of the alleged act of discrimination. OCRC must make a finding within one year after the charge is filed. OCRC staff may go to business or community to conduct training on Ohio laws against discrimination as defined in Revised Code Section 4112.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) recognizes and protects the civil rights of people with disabilities. It prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. SOCIL provides assistance in addressing discrimination and barriers to access in the community, including housing, employment, transportation, and recreation.

Serves as the County Fair Housing Coordinator and answers fair housing questions or complaints.

Provides fair housing services for Madison County residents

The Fair Housing Amendments Act specifically prohibits discrimination in any area of housing because of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, handicap/disability or familial status. We provide informational brochures for Tenant-Landlord Laws and contract with Ohio Regional Development Corporation to implement Fair Housing Services at 120 ½ South Fourth Street, Coshocton.

Provides advocacy services for persons who believe they have been discriminated against in housing (in the public or private sector whether rental units or purchased housing). Also assist with Landlord/Tenant issues as well as incidents of predatory lending.

Handles housing discrimination. Goal is to enable all citizens, and prospective citizens to acquire and maintain equal housing accommodations. Individuals might otherwise be discouraged or prohibited from equal housing opportunities based on race, national origin, religion, age, sex, familial status or disability. Duty of commission is to prevent, discourage, and deal with unfair housing practices stemming from prejudices that result from a prospective homeowner or tenant because they are a member of one of the aforementioned groups.

Provides information, advice, or representation to low income individuals with legal problems including consumer debt collection, domestic violence, divorce, child support, education issues (involving discrimination, student enrollment or suspension, and special services), eviction and other housing problems, federal tax controversies, healthcare, healthcare advance directives, financial powers of attorneys, simple wills, public benefits, sealing an adult criminal record, and social security/SSI.

Provides advice and representation for those being evicted, foreclosed upon, locked out, having difficulty obtaining repairs from a landlord, or who have had utilities terminated. Advice and representation may also be available to those who wish to enforce special rules of subsidized housing, or those seeking assistance with land contract problems and housing discrimination matters.
