The Ohio Civil Rights Commission is a law enforcement agency. The duty of the Commission is to investigate charges of discrimination and determine whether or not violations of the law have occurred. The agency investigates allegations of discrimination in the areas of employment, public accommodations, housing, credit, and disability (higher education) on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, ancestry, disability and military status. Familial status is a protected basis in housing. Age is not a protected basis in housing. Ohio Civil Rights Commission employees are law enforcement officers and must remain neutral.
