- Reviews complaints and prepares cases for Grand Jury presentation. Complainant must first make a report with a law enforcement agency for their investigation. Jurisdiction includes all of Sandusky County except the City of Fremont and the townships of Ballville and Sandusky.
- Files "unruly" complaints against juveniles or criminal complaints against a juvenile. Runaways, habitual disobedience, school truancy, etc. can be filed by the parent/s to request help in dealing with their child.
- Provides victims of violent crimes with information, support, and advocacy, as well as lend emotional and practical assistance through the confusing legal system. Coordinates to establish cooperation with other service providers to better ensure effective and efficient services to victims of crime. Provides assistance with civil protection, stalking orders, and domestic violence situations.

Some individuals wish to take civil or criminal legal action after experiencing interpersonal violence. SAOP advocates can provide detailed information regarding these processes, offer accompaniment, and provide further support as the case proceeds.
