The Victim/Witness Division provides crisis intervention and supportive services to victims and witnesses of violent crime. Advocates provide specialized services to victims of sexual violence, domestic violence and survivors of homicide victims. Advocates respond to area emergency departments to provide crisis intervention and support to victims of sexual violence regardless of whether an offender is identified and/or prosecuted. Advocates work with families who have lost a loved one to a homicide and offer a monthly support group. Additionally, advocates are located at CARE House to provide services to child victims of physical and sexual abuse. Advocates are available to provide court advocacy and an explanation of the criminal justice process. Eligible victims are notified of and provided information and assistance concerning the Victim Compensation Program. Advocates also provide assistance to victims on post-conviction issues including parole hearings.

The Ohio Crime Victims Compensation Program, which is administered by the Ohio Attorney General with court review provided by the Ohio Court of Claims, reimburses crime victims, their families and others who may incur specific expenses resulting from a crime of violence. These expenses may include medical bills, lost wages, counseling and funeral expenses, although the program was recently amended to also include the following expenses: hearing aids, dental aids, glasses, walkers and wheelchairs. Reimbursement for these expenses is considered after all payments or adjustments from insurance providers or other available sources have been made.
