Crisis Intervention, Information/Referral and Victim Advocacy are available free to any victims and their loved ones. Support groups for sexual assault victims and non-offending caregivers of sexually abused children are available periodically. Sexual Violence is our primary focus, but any victim of any crime is welcome to use our services.

To assist victims of felony-level crime with out of pocket expenses for medical and work loss by means of reparations by the State of Ohio (Victim of Crimes Compensation). Serves as a source of information through the court process of the case; serves as a court liaison and support system; contact source for Parole Board information, etc.
Counseling provided at no cost through VOCA counseling program. Provides counseling for individuals, regardless of age, who were victimized by any crime.

Adult Sexual Assault Prevention
Provides payment to eligible victims of violent crime for their unreimbursed economic losses which may include: *Medical and related expenses. *Counseling for immediate family members of victims of homicide, sexual assault, or domestic violence. *Wages lost because of the crime. *Crime scene cleanup for personal security, such as doors and windows. *The cost to replace items taken as evidence. *The cost to replace items of clothing damaged as a result of medical treatment or assessment. *Reimbursement for hearing aids, eyeglasses or other vision aids, dental appliances, teeth or other dental aids, canes, walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility equipment. *Lost wages and travel expenses for family members of a deceased victim to attend court proceedings. *Financial support for dependents of a deceased victim. *Funeral and burial expenses.
Provides assistance to victims and witnesses of crimes through intervention, referrals to social service agencies, procuring compensation through appropriate state laws, and other related services.

The Victim/Witness Division provides crisis intervention and supportive services to victims and witnesses of violent crime. Advocates provide specialized services to victims of sexual violence, domestic violence and survivors of homicide victims. Advocates respond to area emergency departments to provide crisis intervention and support to victims of sexual violence regardless of whether an offender is identified and/or prosecuted. Advocates work with families who have lost a loved one to a homicide and offer a monthly support group. Additionally, advocates are located at CARE House to provide services to child victims of physical and sexual abuse. Advocates are available to provide court advocacy and an explanation of the criminal justice process. Eligible victims are notified of and provided information and assistance concerning the Victim Compensation Program. Advocates also provide assistance to victims on post-conviction issues including parole hearings.

The Ohio Crime Victims Compensation Program, which is administered by the Ohio Attorney General with court review provided by the Ohio Court of Claims, reimburses crime victims, their families and others who may incur specific expenses resulting from a crime of violence. These expenses may include medical bills, lost wages, counseling and funeral expenses, although the program was recently amended to also include the following expenses: hearing aids, dental aids, glasses, walkers and wheelchairs. Reimbursement for these expenses is considered after all payments or adjustments from insurance providers or other available sources have been made.

The Crime Victims Services Section provides several support services for victims of crime including: *SAFE Program - provides assistance for agencies to help solve sexual assault crimes. *Victims Assistance Unit - provides federal and state grants to local crime victim assistance programs. *Missing Children Clearinghouse Unit - maintains the missing children's database which lists children from Ohio that have been lost, abducted or have run away.
