Provides a variety of services to help in preventing or dealing with domestic violence issues for families in the Hispanic community. Will provide accompaniment to court appearances for women who are victims as well as accompanying women to police stations when filing domestic violence police reports. Provides immigration-related help when appropriate. Provides individual counseling for women and their children. Provides a support group for Hispanic women with domestic violence issues. Support group provides a meal and child care during the meeting. Will do speaking engagements about the issues and does issue outreach to this community during events.

Provides access to victim advocates who can answer general questions about crime victim rights, the criminal justice process, and related topics. Advocates may also provide referrals to other local resources and services that offer support to crime victims. In some cases, advocates may provide assistance filing for restitution, guidance on writing victim impact statements, and accompaniment to court proceedings.

Navigating the court and legal system can be discouraging and confusing if you do not have a legal background. My Sister's Place has a court advocate to assist victims of the crime of domestic violence. If you are living in fear from your abuser, it may be possible for you to obtain a protection order against this individual. If you have sustained injuries or other costly effects of abuse, you may be eligible to make a victim compensation claim. Our court advocate can assist you with these applications and answer questions about legal processes that are common to those experiencing abuse at home.

Services include court advocacy, escort, and support during all stages of the Criminal Justice process, notification and explanation of court proceedings, referrals to social service agencies, assistance in completing applications for reparations under the Ohio Victim Compensation Act, information regarding the Victim Impact Statement and victim's right to notification of parole hearings, and assistance in the return of property used in a criminal case.

Provides short term crisis counseling for crime victims and witnesses regardless of intent to pursue criminal prosecution; personal advocacy and court escort during all stages of the police investigation and criminal justice process; case status notification for felony level prosecution pending in Greene County Common Pleas Court and Greene County Juvenile Court. Confidential referrals within a large resource network, to any appropriate medical, counseling, or social service agency. Also provides assistance to persons applying for financial reimbursement through the Ohio Victims of Crime Compensation Program.

Clients are admitted when they are stepping down from inpatient psychiatric units or diverted from inpatient psychiatric admission. Focus on stabilizing the current crisis and mobilizing resources so person can be treated in a less restrictive setting.

211 Summit

Provides support and assistance in the hospital emergency room to victims of rape, incest, and sexual assault as well as the families of those assaulted. Volunteers meet survivors at the hospital and stay with the victim through the physical exam and the police report. Volunteers provide support through interviews, medical exams, trauma and financial problems, and court proceedings (regardless of whether or not the offender is arrested or prosecuted).

UW 211 Greater Toledo

Provides non-emergency information and referral services for Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull Counties via telephone and online public resource database; text program for food pantry referrals; basic information and referral for surrounding areas, state and national resources. Staff is trained in crisis intervention, suicide prevention and supportive listening.
