My Sister's Place has a court advocate to assist victims of the crime of domestic violence. If you have sustained injuries or other costly effects of abuse, you may be eligible to make a victim compensation claim. Our court advocate can assist you with these applications and answer questions about legal processes that are common to those experiencing abuse at home.

Provides a hotline number to speak with an attorney and get advice on evictions; virtual clinics provided on Tuesdays at 4pm. can call in or join from computer to get general information on the eviction process or speak with an attorney; online toolkit walks renters through whatever stage of the eviction process they are in, helps them prepare for court, and provides template documents.

Provides 24 hour support to address the needs of victims of violent crime (such as rape, incest, domestic violence, assault, stalking, drunk driving, hate crimes, and others). Trained advocates provide information and referrals, support, and education. Works to treat survivors fairly and with respect when accessing all services.

Contacts domestic violence victims within 24 hours of referral. If the victim is willing to pursue court action, will accompany and transport them to the prosecutor and to court. Provides a packet of domestic violence information to the victim, and encourages them to participate in a support group and/or counseling. Informs victims of the State Victims of Crimes program, and will assist them in filling out the necessary forms.

Provide temporary shelter for single women and women with children who are homeless. Length of stay is 30 days with goal of moving to stable housing. Assistance with finding permanent housing and other resources.

Provides justice system advocacy, support and information for victims of felony level crimes. Offers victims and witnesses advocates who facilitate interactions between the client and law enforcement officers and other court personnel. Victim advocates accompany victims to court and assist in the completion of victim impact statements and requests for victim notification.

Provides payment to eligible victims of violent crime for their unreimbursed economic losses which may include: *Medical and related expenses. *Counseling for immediate family members of victims of homicide, sexual assault, or domestic violence. *Wages lost because of the crime. *Crime scene cleanup for personal security, such as doors and windows. *The cost to replace items taken as evidence. *The cost to replace items of clothing damaged as a result of medical treatment or assessment. *Reimbursement for hearing aids, eyeglasses or other vision aids, dental appliances, teeth or other dental aids, canes, walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility equipment. *Lost wages and travel expenses for family members of a deceased victim to attend court proceedings. *Financial support for dependents of a deceased victim. *Funeral and burial expenses.

Provides forensic interviews and medical exams in cases of sexual assault and/or abuse.

Provides support and assistance in the hospital emergency room to victims of rape, incest, and sexual assault as well as the families of those assaulted. Volunteers meet survivors at the hospital and stay with the victim through the physical exam and the police report. Volunteers provide support through interviews, medical exams, trauma and financial problems, and court proceedings (regardless of whether or not the offender is arrested or prosecuted).
