Handles complaints and investigates issues dealing with suspected Medicaid fraud by providers and possible neglect or abuse of residents of long term care facilities in Ohio. Will prosecute if criminal action is found. Complaints addressed include, but not limited to, suspected Medicaid fraud by providers (billing for services not performed, over billing, kickbacks etc.) and possible neglect or abuse of residents of a long term care facility (such as nursing homes, group homes, MR/DD facilities, and hospital long term care units). Does not represent the person making the complaint as a private attorney would.

Offers crime prevention and safety programs in the areas of: fraud protection, child abuse prevention, juvenile delinquency prevention.

(NOTE: The FRAUD Department will not be contacting following up with the caller/reporter, regarding the outcome of an investigation. Case Confidentiality rules still apply)
Provides Medicaid coverage for families, children (up to age 19), and pregnant women with limited income. Coverage includes doctor visits, hospital care, prescriptions, mental health services and substance abuse, preventive well-child exams, immunizations, dental and vision services

Investigates complaints received on persons who are receiving assistance who may not be eligible. Refers fraud cases to the Medina County Prosecutor for court action.
Accepts reports of suspected welfare fraud regarding services provided by this agency such as: Ohio Works First (OWF), Food Stamps/SNAP, Medicaid, Childcare Assistance, and/or Prevention, Retention, Contingency (PRC). Can provide assistance and guidance in regard to identity theft for those who suspect that another person is fraudulently using their benefits (for example, stealing their SNAP benefits). Will also accept reports of other fraudulent activity such as lying on an application, selling benefits for cash, or retailer lying on an application to rejoin the SNAP program after being disqualified. Tips may be anonymous if the caller wishes.

JFS Fraud Department will handle all reporting and investigating of fraud pertaining to public services offered by JFS
Access the Ohio Department of Job and Family's website, www.jfs.ohio.gov/fraud, to report suspected fraud related to: * SNAP Retailers and/or Recipients * Medicaid Providers and/or Recipients * OWF Recipients * Child Care Providers and/or Recipients Referrals received through the site will be screened and forwarded to the appropriate county agency for further investigation. The Bureau of Program Integrity Fraud Control Unit will follow up on these referrals to ensure that research has been completed and claims are established, when appropriate, within the timeframes specified by law.

Investigator recovers overpaid benefits and investigates alleged fraud in public assistance programs.
Battles fraud in the health care industry through the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and the Workers' Compensation Fraud Unit. The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of health care providers accused of defrauding the state's Medicaid program. In addition, this Unit also enforces Ohio's Patient Abuse and Neglect Law, which protects the mentally and physically disabled and the elderly from neglect and abuse in Ohio's long-term care facilities. The Workers' Compensation Fraud Unit is responsible for prosecuting claimants, employers and health care providers who defraud the Ohio Workers' Compensation Program.
The Fraud and Benefit Recovery Unit investigates allegations of fraud and pursues collections from the recipient of an overpayment. Depending on the severity of the fraud and overpayment, the case may be referred to the Prosecutor's office for review and possible criminal prosecution.
JFS Fraud reporting department will take all reports of fruad pertaining to public programs offered at JFS.
