Acts as a missing persons clearinghouse for the State of Ohio. Provides information on and assists in the search of missing persons. Missing persons generally include runaways, abductions (by relatives and non-relatives), lost children, persons with mental health issues or disabilities, and older adults. Accepts reports of leads and sightings of missing persons. Posts photos of missing persons on the Internet. Offers printed materials, presentations, a school curriculum, and fingerprint ID cards. Works with other government offices and the media to develop and maintain a plan for issuing Amber Alerts, which provide information to the public about abducted children and missing adults with health issues. Amber Alerts are only sent when a strict set of criteria is met.
