Counseling / Family Therapy | Womensafe

Provides confidential counseling with a mental health professional for victims of domestic violence. Offers counseling for children who have witnessed or experienced some type of abuse or violence. Provides family therapy and parent education focused on helping the household to recover from past abuse, violence, or other traumatic events. Seeks also to prevent abuse within families who may be at risk due to a variety of stressors including: large family size, teenage single parenting, financial problems, drug problems, special needs children, etc. Teaches how to deal with child and parent anger issues, to handle conflicts and manage stress, to recognize cues from children and address their needs, to administer reward and punishment, and to build better communication among family members.

Project Safeplace | Huckleberry House

Network of public sites that display the distinctive yellow and black Safe Place sign (Fire Stations, Columbus Metropolitan Library locations, Worthington Public Libraries, Prairie Township Buildings, Donatos Restaurants, and others). Youth may walk into a designated Safe Place site and tell an employee that they need Safe Place help. Youth will be transported to Huckleberry House by cab and be assessed to best help them work towards turning their crisis situation into an opportunity.
