Provides support and advocacy for victims of domestic violence or sexual assault in health care settings and the justice system for those with hearing loss.

Offers 24 hour response to hospital, police, and personal request for assistance in cases of felony crime with specialized services for sexual assault and child sexual abuse victims and homicide survivors. Provides short term crisis counseling for crime victims and witnesses regardless of intent to pursue criminal prosecution; personal advocacy and court escort during all stages of the police investigation and criminal justice process; case status notification for felony level prosecution pending in Greene County Common Pleas Court and Greene County Juvenile Court. Confidential referrals within a large resource network, to any appropriate medical, counseling, or social service agency. Also provides assistance to persons applying for financial reimbursement through the Ohio Victims of Crime Compensation Program.

Offers fire protection services, emergency medical services, fire inspection, smoke alarms for low-income families, carbon monoxide testing, fire prevention education, and general safety information. Also provides a juvenile firesetters program.

Investigates consumer complaints about any property insured or managed by the agency, including poor maintenance, dangers to health and safety, and concerns about mismanagement. Investigates fraud, waste, or abuse involving agency funds, and handles general questions regarding agency rental programs and procedures, including Housing Choice (Section 8) Vouchers. Refers callers to appropriate departments for complaint resolution depending on their issue.

Provides an evidence-based effective tobacco, alcohol, drug abuse and violence prevention program in Richland County. Training promotes healthy alternatives to risky behavior through activities that: teach students the necessary skills to resist peer pressure to smoke, drink and use drugs; help students develop greater self-esteem and self-confidence; enable students to effectively cope with anxiety; increase knowledge of immediate consequences; enhance cognitive and behavioral competency to reduce and prevent a variety of health risk behaviors.

Provides reporting and investigation of violations of United States federal statutes in a number of areas, including anti-terrorism (domestic/international) activities. Also investigates mortgage fraud (falsifying documents--includes false property appraisals, false statements regarding income and other personal facts, etc. when applying for a home loan), kidnapping, bank robberies, Internet crime, organized crime, hate crimes, and public corruption. Mortgage fraud investigation is part of a task force with the county prosecutor and other law enforcement officials. Internet crime is any illegal activity involving one or more components of the Internet (chat rooms, web sites, and/or e-mail).

Establishes and enforces standards to protect air and water quality (including lead in water), as well as solid and hazardous waste management and cleanup. Insures proper handling of solid wastes and hazardous materials including radiative substances, toxic fumes, and explosives. Handles non-emergency complaints about violations of state's environmental protection laws. Provides support, assistance and legal education to survivors of rape, sexual assault or sexual abuse when survivors choose to prosecute the offenders. Explains the legal aspects of rape and assault (but does not give legal advice), facilitates communication between client and other parties such as police and the courts, helps clients write Victim Impact Statements, and assists with dealing with the Ohio Parole Board. Helps clients access programs for victims of crimes in the State of Ohio and makes referrals to lawyers.

Offers outreach, education and awareness programs for all audiences to learn about human trafficking. Provides specialized training and technical assistance for human trafficking service providers. Convenes and manages NE Ohio's Anti-trafficking coalition. Provides referrals and resources for providers and victims of human trafficking.

Provides law enforcement services, fingerprinting, assistance in locating missing persons, and maintains police records and reports for the City of Highland Heights.

Provides confidential counseling with a mental health professional for victims of domestic violence. Offers counseling for children who have witnessed or experienced some type of abuse or violence. Provides family therapy and parent education focused on helping the household to recover from past abuse, violence, or other traumatic events. Seeks also to prevent abuse within families who may be at risk due to a variety of stressors including: large family size, teenage single parenting, financial problems, drug problems, special needs children, etc. Teaches how to deal with child and parent anger issues, to handle conflicts and manage stress, to recognize cues from children and address their needs, to administer reward and punishment, and to build better communication among family members.

Educates the community about domestic and sexual violence prevention. Provides training and education programs to groups including schools, hospitals, businesses, religious programs, and others.

Crisis Intervention, Information/Referral and Victim Advocacy are available free to any victims and their loved ones. Support groups for sexual assault victims and non-offending caregivers of sexually abused children are available periodically. Safe At Home Address Confidentiality program applications completed for victims of domestic violence, stalking, sexual violence and human trafficking. Sexual Violence is our primary focus, but any victim of any crime is welcome to use our services.
