Provides for the formal supervision of individuals who have been convicted of a crime and given a suspended sentence whick releases them into the commuity under specific conditions which may include a reduced term in county jail, fines, restitution to the victim, community work, counseling, :good conduct" and other stipulations.
Supervises offenders who remain in the community under the jurisdiction of the Akron Municipal Court. Conducts pre-sentence investigations to assist the judges in the determination of appropriate sentences. Administers alternative sentencing programs to supplement traditional penalties including voluntary community service. Oversees restitution to victims of crimes.

Supervises probationers and monitors compliance to the conditions of their probation as well as providing other services such as referrals for social services. Provides specialized probation services for those needing intensive supervision such as those with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and sex offenders. Places offenders into drug treatment when needed. Provides case management for those in drug treatment and acts as a liaison between the court, client, and treatment facility. Also supervises persons in the work release and home detention programs.

Juveniles personally sign documentation outlining probation rules; are subject to drug screenings; and are required to make mandated evening office visits the first Tuesday of every month accompanied by their legal guardian for a probation review. In addition, probation officers often check in with youth at school and/or at home.
Licking County Adult Court Services Department is to assure public safety by supervising offenders placed on community control for felony crimes as well as supervising people awaiting Court actions for criminal indictments.
