Responsible for registering, classifying and delivering untrained military personnel to the armed forces in the event of a national emergency which requires reinstatement of the draft. The peacetime mission of the agency is registration only.

Selective Service Registration
The Selective Service System is charged with providing the Department of Defense trained and untrained personnel in the event of a national emergency. Almost all male citizens and immigrants between the ages of 18-25 must register with the Selective Service. The Selective Service also provides alternative service options for conscientious objectors. The USPS offers registration information and forms at most of their locations across the country.
Main Post Office for Mansfield. Post Office process passport applications for United States citizens. Regular applications have a 6-12 week waiting period to be issued, but can be expedited and issued sooner by paying additional fees. Hours are by appointment only. Provides Selective Service Registration materials to facilitate the registration process. Provides burial flags for veterans through a partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
