This includes: * Food Services Operations (FSO) * Retail Food Establishments (RFE) * Mobile Food Service Operations and Mobile Retail Food Establishments (fairs/festival trailers) * Temporary Food Service Operations * Vending Machine Locations FSO and RFE applications are renewed each year by Mar 1.

Protects the public's health by assisting and monitoring aspects of food protection which include plan review, inspections, licensing, education, complaint, and food borne outbreak investigations. Educates the public, employees, owners, and managers of food facilities through Level 1 and Level 2 courses offered at Richland Public Health covering subjects regarding food safety.

Provides information and answers questions regarding food safety issues such as storage, handling, preparation, product dating and content, seasonal foods, preventing foodborne illness, and power outages. Publicizes warnings to the public to avoid foods that may be a health hazard such as foods that are contaminated or contain potentially hazardous ingredients. Accepts consumer complaints regarding problems with meat, poultry, or egg products only. Handles complaints on issues such as incorrect packaging or foreign objects (plastic, glass, etc.) in food items.

Provides safety information and answers questions about food, nutrition, dietary supplements, food labeling, cosmetics, pet food, food additives, food biotechnology, blood products, vaccines, and medical devices. Handles complaints concerning food (except food items inspected by the USDA including meat, poultry, and egg products), food labeling, cosmetics, dietary supplements, and medical devices that are under FDA regulation.

Issues licenses for restaurants, grocery stores, vending machines that dispense perishable items, temporary food events, and mobile food operators, and conducts periodic inspections of these facilities in service area. Assists those who are planning to open businesses of these types to make application for licensing. Responds to consumer complaints about these establishments. Reports and investigates food-borne illnesses. Answers questions about food recalls. Offers food safety education classes.

Licenses and inspects food service operations, vending machine operations, retail food establishments, and temporary food and mobile food operations as described above. Responds to consumer complaints regarding restaurant. Reports and investigates food-borne illnesses.

Responsible for protecting the community against food borne illnesses resulting from health code violations. Provides licensing of all food service and food establishments, inspects food establishments, investigates food borne illnesses and reports of contaminated food, addresses customer complaints, analyzes water samples from food establishments on a well.

Responsible for licensing and inspection of food service operations and retail food establishments including restaurants, convenience stores, coffee shops, concession trailers, food vending, temporary food sales at events, deli and grocery stores.

Responsible for restaurant and food sanitation inspections, plumbing inspections, tap water testing, and rabies control.

Provides inspection and code enforcement of: plumbing, water, and sewer service; sewage; schools; water wells; camps; recreational areas; swimming pools; groceries; food services; trailer parks; and solid waste disposal. Also provides planning for land use with soil surveys and layouts; rabies control; and nuisance abatement.

The Fairfield County Department of Health Public will follow up on reports of businesses or other organizations that may be violating an order issued by the local public health department or other officials and are endangering the public and/or their own employees.
