The Gallia County Department of Job and Family Services provides Non-Emergency Transportation through a private contractor and by the client’s private vehicle through the gas voucher program. NET provides transportation to medically necessary appointments, such as renal dialysis, chemotherapy, radiation, as well as routine doctor appointments. Transportation must be for non-emergencies and to a Medicaid provider. This service is available to individuals who are not covered under a managed care plan or when a managed care plan is unable to arrange transportation.

Local Bus Transit Services | Ohio Valley / Eastern Ohio Regional Transit Authority

Operates four (4) fixed bus routes that primarily serve the Ohio communities in Belmont and Jefferson Counties of Bellaire, Bridgeport, Brookside, Martins Ferry, Rayland, Shadyside, Tiltonsville, Yorkville and the communities located along the Blaine route west of Brookside (such as Wolfhurst, Lansing and Blaine). The four (4) bus routes also cross the Ohio River to offer service to and from downtown Wheeling. Connects with Steel Valley Regional Transit Authority (SVRTA) in Rayland, OH six (6) times a day Monday through Friday and five (5) times on Saturdays. The four (4) fixed routes operated by the Eastern Ohio Regional Transit Authority (EORTA) are the Blaine/Ohio Valley Mall, Martins Ferry/Rayland, Martins Ferry/Yorkville, and Shadyside runs.

Assistance is provided only for items that are essential for the applicant's employment, job training, or education such as: car repairs, car payments, or car insurance payments; car down payment; work clothing and uniforms; and tools and safety equipment. Also will help pay for professional testing/certification and licensing fees, identification materials (i.e. driver's license, state identification, birth certificates), driver's education, and other items as deemed appropriate by the agency. Transportation to work provided through the most cost effective means. A budget will need to be completed and watching a one hour financial literacy video may be required.

Provides direct transportation services within Athens County to medical appointments for Medicaid-eligible clients. For medical appointments outside of Athens County, we can refer you for transportation if you provide a statement from a local physician confirming that the necessary medical services are not available in Athens County. We can also reimburse clients for gas costs, using the federal mileage reimbursement rate for medical travel expenses. Clients may qualify for an incidental reimbursement of $15 for appointments over 51 miles and an appropriate referral from physician. Contact our Transportation Services unit for more information.
