The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program (HEAP Summer Crisis Program), assists eligible applicants with a fan one time every three years to prevent undue health risks during the summer season to those who qualify, from July 1st - September 30 only. Tobacco cessation program to help pregnant women quit smoking and stay tobacco free after baby is born. Women who enroll in the program, quit smoking and remain tobacco free after the baby is born receive free diapers for 12 months (voucher to Walmart each month).

Provides new items that can be used to set up a kitchen, bathroom and cleaning closet in a home or school dorm room. Items may include kitchen dishware, dining flatware, kitchen utensils, pots and pans, bath mats, towels, waste baskets, shower curtains, bedding, pillows, comforters, sheets, brooms, buckets, detergents, ironing boards, irons, microwaves, shampoo, soaps, toothpaste, and religious items.

Provides a free store where shoppers can browse for clothing, linens, kitchenware (pots, pans, silverware, plates), as well as personal care items. Variety and availability of items will vary based on what has been donated.

Provides payments on electric bills. Also provides air conditioners (window unit), fans, and/or repairs to central air conditioner systems during the summer months. ELECTRIC UTILITY ASSISTANCE: Customers of regulated utility companies can receive a maximum of $500 in assistance. Customers may receive payment for one of the following: current electric bill, utility account deposit, transfer of service, disconnect fees or can be used to re-establish service. Cannot be used for past-due PIPP Plus. The utility company is not required to delay disconnection of customer's account when an appointment for this program is scheduled. If more than $500 is owed to the Illuminating Company a copayment will be required. AIR CONDITIONING/FANS: No central air conditioner repair. Can provide Air Conditioning Unit or up to two tower-style fans.

Provides personal hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, toilet paper, tissues, body lotion, razors, bandages, and feminine products. Also provides cleaning products such as dish soap, paper towels, and fabric softener.

The assistance is applied to their utility bill. Also provides indoor air quality and comfort assistance: Potentially up to $1,500 for central air conditioning repair. Residents who have not received an air conditioner from the program in the last three (3) years can request a unit. Electric box fans will also be distributed. Residents who have received air conditioners in the past three (3) years may be eligible for a fan. Distribution of air conditioners and fans will be subject to availability.

Offers home repairs and rehabilitations to income-eligible Lorain County homeowners. Repairs may include roofs, water heaters, furnaces, A/C, electric panel, electrical, ADA modifications, plumbing, and more. The Home Repair Program provides no-cost upgrades and fixes for qualified homeowners. This grant-funded program requires no repayment by the homeowner. The Home Rehabilitation Program offers more extensive repairs and upgrades for homes. Assistance will be in the form of a declining-forgivable loan. There is no monthly payment, and no interest will be charged. No credit check is needed. 100% of the amount borrowed will be forgiven over (5) years provided owner continues to own and occupy the home. NOTE: Funding varies from year to year and might not always be available.

Provides a food pantry with a 3-day supply of groceries for individuals and families in need. For nearby residents, provides basic, essential hygiene items and cleaning supplies that are not covered by food stamps or other public assistance,such as toilet paper, shampoo, toothpaste, laundry detergent and cleaning products. Offers a light meal to everyone who visits.

This HEAP program helps to secure seasonal heating and cooling energy needs. Provides electric bill payment assistance to qualified households that have persons 60 and over or those with medical conditions that require electric service. The maximum amount for bill payment assistance is $500 for regulated utilites and $800 for unregulated (usually government such as the City of Columbus). Also provides window air conditioners to qualifying individuals. Also can pay up to $500 to repair central A/C units of homeowners as long as there is no outstanding payment on the electric bill. Must be repaired by a state certified vendor.

Provides assistance with cleaning supplies and furniture to flood victims.

Low cost building materials/supplies, used furniture, and appliances available based on donations received.

Provides eligible households financial assistance, up to $500 if they are a customer of a regulated utility or $800 if they are a customer of an unregulated utility. The assistance is applied to their utility bill. Also provides indoor air quality and comfort assistance: Up to $1,500 for central air conditioning repair; up to $300 for air conditioning units; and/ or up to $100 per fan (maximum two (2) fans. NOTE: The electric utility assistance benefit is separate from the additional benefit for central air conditioner repair and receiving a fan or air conditioner unit. Households may receive the full benefit for bill assistance and also receive an additional benefit (such as central air conditioner repair, air conditioner unit, and/or fan) once per cooling season.

Provides aid to families in the form of a voucher to buy items or pay for emergency services related to establishing a household (coming out of homelessness or moving into a new unit) and which cannot be addressed using existing community resources. MAY BE USED FOR: stoves and refrigerators (maximum $200); baby furniture; children's beds/mattresses; general furniture (limited to: couch, love seat, living room chairs, kitchen table, bedroom dresser (up to $125); washer and/or dryer (only if integral to the applicant's employment); and microwave oven (maximum of $400 per item), and children's clothing (up to $150 per child). MAY NOT BE USED FOR: entertainment furniture (such as a TV or a radio), mortgage payments. YEARLY CASH LIMITS: $1,500 total during the calendar year (may be $750 for certain non-custodial parents).

Provides infant clothing (up to size 4T), infant formula, baby food, diapers, wipes, cribs, hygiene products for children, cribs, crib mattresses, and new car seats. Also supplies newborn layettes.

Parent Infant Center helps parents cope with the day to day challenges of raising a family. The center provides assistance with formula, baby furniture and other material items.

Provides one (1) bag of nonperishable emergency food and one (1) bag of paper products for individuals and families in need.

Educates parents and guardians about safe sleep for babies. Families may be eligible for a free portable crib.

One-time benefit to assist with electric bills, central air conditioning repairs, and air conditioning unit and/or fan purchases.

Provides a rebate of up to $250 toward the installation of a new electric water heater in a home, office or other building which uses electricity from Darke Rural Electric Cooperative. A $250 rebate will be paid to the member on the basis of one rebate for each qualified unit installed that has a load management switch installed for Buckeye direct load management efforts. If there is an existing switch, a rebate of $200 will be paid to the member for the installation of a new water heater.
