Eleanor Gerson High School | Applewood Centers
Provides an alternative education program for students who, for emotional or behavioral reasons, have not been successful in standard schools. Students are assigned individual advisors who evaluate, offer support, and work with them to exercise initiative, responsibility, and a return to his/her high school, preparation for college, technical training, or full-time employment. Includes mental health counseling where indicated. Capacity is about 50 students.

Application process
Phone for an appointment, M-F: 7:30am-4:00pm. Registration is ongoing throughout the school year, (September-May). Students are referred by school personnel, mental health professionals, social workers and parents.
Fee
School districts pay a daily rate for students.
Eligibility
Serves ages 14 and over (completed the 8th grade) who reside anywhere in Ohio. Students transitioning from a hospital or treatment center are served.

Applewood Centers
Provides behavioral healthcare, special education, and social services for children, youth, and families. Offers a multi-disciplinary staff, including licensed counselors, social workers, teachers, nurses, psychologists and psychiatrists. Services include outpatient counseling, psychiatry, residential services, adoption, foster care, in-home and school-based services, internship programs and research partnerships. Provides the site for a residential treatment program for youth with both substance abuse and mental health issues. Operates five sites in Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties.
