HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM, SECTION 8 | KNOX METROPOLITAN HOUSING AUTHORITY
The Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) provides rental assistance to very low income families, allowing them the opportunity to live in decent, safe, and affordable housing. HCV Programs are funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and administered by public housing agencies throughout the country. The Knox Metropolitan Housing Authority (KMHA) administers the HCVP Program in Knox County.

Application process
KMHA is currently accepting applications for its Waiting List until further notice. Applications are available for pickup at the office or on the agency website, www.knoxmha.org. Completed applications can be mailed to the agency at 201A West High Street, Mount Vernon or dropped off at the office during normal business hours. KMHA will notify applicants by mail when their name reaches the top of the waiting list. Applicants will be sent a letter requiring them to complete additional information. Applicants must attend an individual/group briefing explaining the program rules and regulations, and their family obligations. This briefing is required in order to be eligible for assistance. **During the pandemic, briefing meetings have been suspended** KMHA will continue to brief by mail and issue vouchers.

Knox, Ashland and Holmes County residents. Criminal Background checks are completed and reviewed 3 years back.
