Because this is a mandatory program, eligible individuals are generally referred either when they apply for OWF benefits, or during the recertification process. However, some people may not be automatically referred. If someone meets the eligibility requirements and they are not part of the program, phone for an appointment.

Description
Provides a mandatory program for pregnant and/or parenting youth who receive OWF (Ohio Works First) benefits to encourage them to receive their high school diploma or GED and to become self-sufficient. Program provides a case manager to offer support to clients and monitor their progress. LEAP provides monetary rewards for moving from one grade to the next and for completing high school or earning a GED. Participants MAY be eligible for a child care subsidy only if there is no other appropriate person who can assist - family has the primary responsibility for this service.
