While the initial workshop is open to all, membership is required for any further participation in the program. Must be owner-occupants and not own any other property. Multi-family homes with rental units are allowed, but only if the owner also lives in the home.
Agency will advise, but will eventually need the following: Pay Stubs (most recent available 30 days) Monthly Mortgage Statement (most recent available) Property Tax Bill (most recent available) Homeowners Insurance Bill (most recent available).
Workshops vary as scheduled National customer service is staffed M-F: 8:30am-9:00pm.

Phone or go to web site anytime to locate or register for a workshop. Those who are already participating in the program may phone for information or updates on their case during service hours.

The agency has suspended membership fees for this program, however, members are encouraged to participate in at least five actions in support of the organization per year (such as helping in the office, attending protests, or counseling other member families).

Description

Provides home mortgage loan counseling services to those who are in danger of losing their home. Works with the lender to negotiate and restructure the loan in order to create better terms for the borrower. In some cases, agency will refinance the loan. Goal is to bring the interest rate down to a level where the borrower can make sustainable payments.
