Must use form provided by the state Secretary of State or the county board of elections to apply for a ballot in writing to vote absentee in each election. Registered individuals may request applications starting 90 days before the election. Voters may request an application through Board's web site or by phone, or may print an application from the web site if they have a printer. When a voter completes their application for the ballot, they may hand-deliver to the drop box behind the board or may mail the application to the Board no later than seven days before the election. Voters can track the status of their absentee ballot application on the Board's web site. Mail from the board typically takes three to five days. If completed ballots are mailed by a voter, they must be postmarked by the day before election day. Ballots postmarked by the day before election day will be counted if they are received by the Board within four days following the election. Ballots that have not been postmarked by the day before election day must be dropped off at the board by 7:30pm on election day in order to count. Absentee ballots may not be dropped off at a precinct polling place on election day.
Free if walking in to receive or drop off an application. Postage required on application to receive mail in ballot and on completed ballot. Sending a completed ballot by mail usually requires 64 cents postage but depends on the number of pages in a ballot.
