KINSHIP PERMANENCY INCENTIVE PROGRAM (KPIP) | CUYAHOGA COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES
Provides short term, time-limited payments to eligible relative caregivers who have obtained permanent legal custody of a child. Not emergency assistance. Payments are designed to reimburse the initial costs associated with taking a relative's child/ren into the home. Those eligible can apply for $525 per child initially, and $300 per child at six month intervals, not to exceed eight total payments.

Application process
Call to request application. May leave message after hours with name, phone number and address. Request staff mail an application. Must re-apply every six months (not before) in order to receive payments beyond the initial. Process includes completing an approved agency home study to include criminal background check (fingerprints) for all adult household members and a safety audit of the household. Assistance is not immediate or guaranteed.

Eligibility
Serves children aged younger than 18 who are living with a family member or non-relative with legal custody. Having Power of Attorney (POA) does NOT qualify. Having been adopted does not qualify. Child must reside with relative. Child and caregiver must live in Cuyahoga County. Household income (including all minor children ) may not exceed 300% of federal poverty level.
